Responsible for planning, preparing, publishing, and disseminating University sponsored information both internally and externally. Prepares written, graphical, audio, and visual material to support the communications to press and government agencies.

The job manages multiple related teams of managers and professional staff responsible for the execution of strategic plans for events programming, marketing, and logistics.

  1. Manages the planning and execution of logistics (e.g., facility selection, menu planning, transportation arrangements, and audio/visual equipment) for organization meetings and special events. Manages high-level events. Manages events staff., 2) Develops policies and procedures for all events. Approves the content of marketing materials and all other communications., 3) Develops and manages events budgets. Reviews post event feedback and analyses and determines actions to improve the success of future events., 4) Plans and manages contract negotiations and the selection of vendors. Works to maintain and improve relationships with vendors and service providers., 5) Performs other related work as needed.

Unit-Specfiic Responsibilities

  1. The Director, Enterprise Events role is an integral part of The University of Chicago Booth School of Business (Chicago Booth) Marketing and Communications Department.
  2. The Director of Enterprise Events is passionate about leveraging enterprise events to enhance the Chicago Booth brand and increases engagement with our audiences while ensuring flawless management and execution of events.
  3. This role is responsible for the strategic planning and execution of all enterprise events. Enterprise events are defined as events aimed at increasing brand visibility and showcasing the significant contributions of Chicago Booth across a variety of audiences, from prospective students to our alumni community, corporate partners and others within the Chicago Booth community.
  4. Create and oversee the development and execution of plans, policies, and procedures for all domestic and international enterprise events.
  5. Oversee and tackle all aspects of event production and promotion from content and program development, AV production, vendor management, logistics, audience communications, etc.
  6. Work collaboratively with the Marketing and Communications team to develop brand, content, and channel strategies to promote events. Oversee the development of marketing collateral for events ensuring all tactics are reflective of above strategies.
  7. Drive efficiency and accuracy in processes for collection, storage, and dissemination of events related information. Supervise event registration, systems, and surveys.
  8. Collaborate with the Institutional Research team, the Marketing Analytics team and Director of Digital Engagement to drive insight management in an effort to measure performance and provide informed decision making to teams across the enterprise as it relates to enterprise events strategy.
  9. Lead individual event dashboard creation and a year end summary of all enterprise events that will be used to assess effectiveness and evolution of the enterprise events strategy.
  10. Lead annual planning process for enterprise level events focused on creating alignment between our events strategy, and project planning and execution, resulting in a cohesive and coordinated framework for events with defined metrics for success.
  11. Create the mechanisms among Chicago Booth departments for effective communication and information sharing, including creation of a calendar of enterprise events and of a defined schedule of enterprise event planning, implementation and programming.
  12. Actively partner with other areas of the University to improve audience engagement, increase the impact of Booth's brand, and strengthen relationships with other departments and schools, always driving the brand management and high-level coordination among stake holders.
  13. Function as the main point of contact relative to strategy, tactics, implementation and outcomes for all enterprise event stake-holders.
  14. Manage enterprise event staff, providing direction and coaching while working closely as a hands-on member of the team.
  15. Manage enterprise event budgets and track event-related expenses and revenues.
  16. Direct enterprise event timelines, schedules, and priorities.
  17. Keep up with current events trends and research peer organizations' special events and procedures.
  18. Establish a set of best practices for event planning and execution that meet the scale and scope of each event opportunity.
  19. Work with Chicago Booth leadership to formulate enterprise events topics and strategies, aligning enterprise events to brand strategy and business goals.
  20. Partner with the events team within Advancement team on shared events as needed.

Education, Experience, and Certifications

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 7+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Preferred Qualifications


  1. Minimum seven years of experience in event promotion, planning, and execution.
  2. Experience leading and developing event professionals.
