Director, Engineering

Total Wine & More is looking for a Director of Software Engineering to work at our Bethesda, MD office. You will be an IT leader with experience leading a team to build, deliver, and support Digital Customer and associate facing platforms. You will have prior experience with the development of ecommerce applications, Mobile App, APIs, developer engagement, and full lifecycle software development. You will have an architecture mindset with a focus on further enhancing the Technology Platforms roadmap, eliminating technical debt, and improving the capabilities of our Digital Platform. You will be a primary owner of the relationship with the Digital Product Teams. You are a technology partner focused on delivering transformational business change that expects high-quality delivery and continuous improvement. You will report to the Senior Vice President of Technology.

You will

• Lead vision, strategy, and the technology roadmap of Total Wine Digital platforms

• Lead a technical team with deep technical expertise

• Influence architecture and design to provide a scalable, reliable, secure Ecommerce and mobile applications

• Institute software development and quality assurance best practices

• Institute Agile development processes improve the efficiency of the Technology organization

• Instill DevOps mindset and establish efficient CICD pipeline

• Increase engagement of developers on the platform by providing documentation, tools, and support

• Build team structure and process to support a fast-growing business

• Manage both onshore and offshore development teams to provide major, minor and cumulative patch release

• Recruit, hire, and develop a team that encourages excellence and fosters technical talent

• Guide test automation across both digital and technology organizations

You will come with

• Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or related field

• 10+ years of experience in the software development field

• 5+ years of experience in Digital product development, e-commerce/e-business, or omnichannel disciplines

• 10+ years of hands-on experience with system design and operations

• 5+ years of experience managing technical teams totaling 20+ engineers

• Experience building scalable technology solutions that support omnichannel consumer experiences

• Experience with development, deployment, and operations in a public cloud environment

• Experience with web application security and best practices

• Experience with Agile/Scrum development and continuous integration

• Working knowledge of RESTful APIs, OAuth2 authorization framework, and API Gateway

• Experience with Cloud Architecture- Google Cloud preferred

• Experience with headless/composable architecture is a plus

• Ability to adapt to a face paced organization where priorities shift to meet business needs
