The Engineering Director will be responsible for the technical product throughout product and design life cycle.
General Responsibilities
Thrive in a fast-paced business where complex development projects must be executed upon within "short-cycle" development environment
Work with cross-functional teams including sales, marketing, product management and the manufacturing site operations team to execute on New Business Opportunity's (NBO) wins that drive profitable growth
Lead global engineering team through product development process and continuous improvement; direct team located in Boise, Idaho; Antrim, NIRL; extended engineering team in India Technical Center
Lead technology roadmap definition and manage execution
Execute the product roadmap that meets the needs of our chosen markets and customers
Understand and deliver to customer requirements and expectations
Benchmark competitors' products and strategy
Work with cross-functional team to define, continuously improve and support the implementation of the Aftermarket Product Development processes
Develop and evolve the engineering organization capabilities to meet the future business needs
Build effective teams, organization structures, and engineering processes and tools needed that can scale with business growth and complexity
Attract, retain and develop talent including recruitment, succession planning, Individual Development Planning, and Performance Management
Experience / Qualifications
A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience.
Ability to lead, coach, and develop team members
Holds self and others accountable to achieving goals and standards
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers
BS/MS Electrical or Software Engineering a plus
Strong Product design and development experience including electronics and embedded software.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects, customer relationships, implement standardized processes and best practices
Experienced with problem solving & process improvement tools such as: DMAIC, Shainin, Agile, Lean, etc.
Experience with Design To Cost, Design for Manufacturability, Design of experiments, Functional understanding of advanced quality planning tools such as FMEA
Ability to work across all functions and levels of an organization; experience in a matrix environment preferred
Up to 25% travel required (depending on location of candidate)
