Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Director 1 to join our team of highly qualified and diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.

In this role, you will:

  • Plan and implement the Space Process Excellence initiative across the Space Park CoE Engineering organization.

  • Identify and manage process documentation gap analysis/update/creation, training, user interface, configuration management & control, and oversight to ensure process execution and compliance in order to minimize future process escapes on space programs

  • Develop project strategic direction and planning, cost and schedule management, collaboration with Space programs and Mission Assurance, metrics and development of an affordable sustainment plan

  • Develop and execute Executive level briefings.

  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned commensurate with performance or due to business need

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) field from an accredited institution, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the Aerospace industry

  • Knowledge of Lean/ Six sigma methodology and process management

  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance and SCI

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working effectively across organizational and program boundaries

  • 3 years of experience in Program/Project management

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and brief executives

  • Active DoD Secret clearance with SCI

  • Master's degree with 8 years work experience within process management

  • Lean/Six Sigma/Agile training/certification

You are responsible for providing functional home room (FHR) management to a team of Autonomy and Controls engineers, and hardware engineers who are responsible for the development of multiple control baselines for multiple programs. You will interface frequently with section members, functional manager and all programs your team supports. You will be tasked with setting and implementing functional/ organizational objectives and providing guidance to employees. Additional responsibilities are performance tracking and evaluation of section members and assisting/leading hiring activities for your group. You will be responsible for supporting the section members with functional, human resource and development activities. This SM role will comprise approximately 20% of your work and the remaining 80% will be fulfilling a technical role as a Controls engineer. This position requires the following skills: * Excellent interpersonal, leadership, communication, and organizational skills and professional development/mentoring skills * Demonstrated ability to implement process improvements, streamline activities, and develop effective processes * Technical background in Autonomous Controls Subsystem design Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 5 years of experience in GNC and/or VMS * Experience in Control/GNC and/or VMS development deliverables and processes * Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance and SCI Preferred Qualifications: * Masters or PhD in STEM * Demonstrated leadership experience * 3 years of working GN&C or ACS for advanced concepts through conceptual and preliminary design for air, missile, and/or space projects * 1 year of experience leading technical teams in the areas of GNC or ACS * Active DoD Secret clearance with SCI Northrop Grumman is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
