This position is directly responsible for leading near and long-term strategic planning for CMS Programs and Operations (Claims, Customer Service & Membership). In partnership with the Vice President, this position will establish and manage the process for sourcing, evaluating, and planning the divisional strategic roadmap and ensure that it supports and aligns with executive leadership and the fundamental success factors of the company. This position is responsible for developing and utilizing strategic tools that incorporate rigorous analyses to deliver solutions that meet the evolving needs of our business. They will promote strategic development and decision-making and support the efficient execution of divisional strategy. Also, providing exceptional leadership and effective management in administration, project oversight, strategy formulation, analytics, communications, relationship-building, and decision-making as well as prioritization

This position is eligible to work Onsite or Hybrid in accordance with our Telecommuting Policy. Applicants must reside in Kansas or Missouri or be willing to relocate as a condition of employment.

What you'll do

  • Serve as strategic advisor and partner to the VP and Directors of the division.

  • Utilize strategic frameworks and models (e.g., value chain analysis, value proposition, strategy canvas, etc.) for strategic positioning and landscape.

  • Utilize decision making models (i.e., PrOACT) for framing strategic decisions, trade-offs, and analysis of key business decisions, problems, and opportunities.

  • Manage the divisions' 3-5 year strategic roadmap and monitor progress towards goals by developing and maintaining dashboards to monitor key performance indicators.

  • Support business units in strategy development, analysis, and framing decisions of emergent opportunities and threats.

  • Create and maintain cross-departmental relationships to enable organizational alignment and effectiveness.

  • In partnership with the director of customer success and data analytics, create awareness, knowledge, and conviction around data-driven practices and behaviors.

  • Responsible for implementing the organization's brand strategy and ensure linkage between our corporate strategy, corporate strategic initiatives and planning activities with the division.

  • Build financial, operating, and behavioral models.

  • Build the team and capabilities necessary to support the divisional strategy, holding the team accountable to goals while coaching and developing for professional growth.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of and experience in developing strategies and key scenario planning surrounding execution.

  • Exceptionally detail-oriented and highly organized structured thinker who can manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Ability to communicate recommendations effectively (written & verbal) to executive and senior leadership in a concise, compelling manner.

  • Experience developing and executing enterprise and market-based strategy in a large complex healthcare organization.

  • Experience working with operations to implement strategic initiatives.

  • Ability to create structure from ambiguous information and set forth an efficient approach to solve problems or answer questions.

  • Ability to multiple tasks at once, prioritize work, and deliver exceptional work product.

  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams and influence those who do not directly report to you. Holds others and self, accountable to meet commitments.

  • Ability to take initiative and be a self-starter. Prioritizes work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals.

  • Desire to be in a fast-paced role with a mindset of continuous improvement.

  • Proven track record of using decision making frameworks and strategic frameworks for analysis, forming recommendations and driving value.

  • Healthcare consulting and health system corporate strategy experience preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required within a discipline requiring strong analytical aptitude such as, but not limited to business administration, finance, or economics. Required 8 years experience in related field in lieu of degree.
