The Director provides administrative leadership and oversight responsibility for OB Triage, Labor and Delivery, OB Cesarean Section Circulating and Recovery, High Risk OB (Antepartum), immediate care of the newborn and Postpartum working closely with the CNOs to develop strategies and practices for Women's Services districtwide. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating all aspects of care/services delivered; insuring quality programs, patient safety and a level of customer service that strives to exceed internal and external customer expectations; develops strong relationships with primary customers.
Practices excellent employee relations and attention to employee needs. The Director will maintain strong positive relations with hospital team members, medical staff, patients and the public. Develops and mentors a high performing management team in interviewing and hiring, training, and performance evaluation; establishes specific performance standards and measures for work.
Ensures financial viability by managing both applicable revenue and expenses with attention to supply cost utilization and a high level of productivity in cost centers under direct control. Oversees assigned budgets, including projections and reconciliation; understands implications of Palomar Health business decisions on bottom line and manages activities to produce results to support business decisions. Identifies areas where costs per unit can be optimized, prioritizes which projects will have greatest returns, and ensures quality results are realized in a timely manner; anticipates resources that will be needed to complete a project. Understands and adheres to the California Nurse Practice Act, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses, the ANA Bill of Rights for Registered Nurses, and the ANA Scope and Standards for Nurse Administrators.
Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and Master's Degree in Business or Healthcare related field OR
Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Nursing  Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and Master's Degree in Nursing  Minimum Experience: 3 years in progressive levels of responsibility in an acute care facility  Preferred Experience: 5 years of experience in leadership of multiple areas within an acute care facility  Required Certification: American Heart Association recognized BLS - Heartsaver
Certification in Nursing Administration, area of specialty or CHE  Preferred Certification: Not Applicable  Required License: Current CA RN License
