Job Summary and Qualifications

The Director of Distribution Operations is responsible for providing strategic input and tactical execution of the Mercy Supply Chain Operations in support of a multi-hospital Ministry (30+ facilities and 600+ clinics) including warehouse operations for two sites (Springfield and St. Louis, MO), pharmaceutical distribution, and print shop operations. The position will be responsible for directing, implementing, and measuring all current and future fulfillment operations, including operational and systemic implementations, education, training, and integration into facility operations. In addition, this position will be responsible for ongoing development and reengineering of future state supply chain strategies for the fulfillment organization. This role is responsible for overseeing all warehouse operations functions including receiving, order picking, packing, shipping, transportation, and inventory management for two locations. The Director of Distribution Operations is also responsible for ensuring the success of all hiring, training, orientation, supervision, and evaluation of all warehouse employees. This individual is responsible for building strategic relationships and ongoing alliances with key hospital and Division leaders and other stakeholders.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Manage the global supply chain performance metrics to ensure operational performance goals are met throughout the ministry.

  • Identify and drive execution of continuous improvement opportunities within supply chain operations based on results of operating and financial performance indicators.

  • Support HealthTrust Supply Chain leadership in minimizing overall costs and maximizing the savings and benefits attributable to implementation of the supply chain business plan.

  • Identify and develop future strategic plans associated with the Ministry's warehousing functions.

  • Ensure consistent implementation of the Mercy operating platform, which includes warehousing and transportation.

  • Responsible for ensuring the consistent operations of warehouse, print shop, and distribution.

  • Assist in preparation of annual warehouse operation budget.

  • Maintain operating expenses based on an annual operating budget.

  • Manage disaster supplies, processes, insuring warehouse is prepared to support facilities in all disasters.

  • Meets regularly with Healthtrust and Mercy Senior Leadership and provides Facility and Ministry wide strategy related to the fulfillment operations.

  • Raise and resolve facility based supply chain issues and improvement opportunities as it relates to warehouse service levels.

  • Ensure that all policies and procedures are being followed by the warehouse staff.

  • Assist in inventory management as needed, including Bulk Buys, replenishment analysis and physical inventory.

  • Maintain effective communication with customers, co-workers, and other team members.

  • Ensure warehouse operations meet all department mandated timeframes and deadlines.

  • Oversee the comprehensive Safety and Security program for the warehouse and logistics operations.

  • Actively engages in leadership development opportunities and programs for all employees.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Business Management, Finance, Accounting, Logistics, Supply Chain, or healthcare related focus
