Our Sourcing team partner with the business to ensure efficient acquisition of goods and services that enables the commercialization of our medicines, vaccines and Animal Health products. We collaborate internationally and are grouped into center-led categories and regional operating teams.
Direct Materials Strategic Programs will lead the overall infrastructure to coordinate existing and new sourcing/business transformation projects, bringing the discipline, execution and implementation skills required to manage the large number of initiatives being managed by the Direct Materials Leadership Team (DMLT), while driving alignment to higher-level GSMG and Manufacturing Division strategies, priorities, and initiatives. As a member of the DMLT, the Director
DM Strategic Programs will work closely with global category and site procurement leads, colleagues within the GSMG Process, Operations & Strategy (PO&S), Supplier Development & Performance Management (SD&PM), External Manufacturing (ExM), to ensure the sourcing initiatives are managed effectively and reported to appropriate senior level stakeholders and business unit partners.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the gathering, creation, delivery, tracking, analysis, modeling and management of information regarding sourcing projects as well as for the overall DMLT organizational objectives, providing leadership and direction to accelerate organizational performance through effective project management and communications, strategy development, and focused team performance.
The essential job responsibilities for the Director of Direct Materials Strategic Programs may include but are not limited to:
Drive development and communication cadence of direct materials strategies, ensuring alignment with GSMG colleagues and Manufacturing Division stakeholders within Global Supply Chain, Global Science & Technology, and all Lines of Business. Generate executive-level presentations.
Provide progress status briefings to management, project teams and executives, proactively highlighting any issues with projects, timelines, etc. that require awareness or attention.
Establish organization dashboard. Drive organizational performance improvement through monitoring of all key performance indicators and metrics, and status of key projects. Internalize data including cost savings, DPO, and Supplier Diversity Development goals and all relevant project information to quickly integrate data into projects as required. Be centralized knowledge repository.
Risk Management and compliance lead for DM team, aligning with SD&PM, PO&S and 3rd party risk management team.
Outstanding presentation skills, strong competence in preparing and presenting business direction, strategies, products, services, and capabilities.
Strong project management skills, effectively tracking status of all key projects within Direct Materials categories and manufacturing sites. Single point of accountability for program delivery. Manage project schedule and status throughout the duration of the project, including status, tracking and reporting; identification of critical path issues, and schedule changes. Ensure the timely and accurate update of information, including the tracking of task and deliverable completion and the identification of slippage as and when it occurs.
Formulate and deploy procedures governing all aspects of (materials procurement, material planning, inventory management, and supplier development), supporting our Manufacturing Division's journey to become a World Class Supplier. Demonstrate global operational excellence, customer satisfaction, product leadership, and operating philosophy initiatives.
Embraces a style of accountability, continuous improvement and acts with a sense of urgency.
Participate in the business strategy and organizational development.
Ensuring supply chain/sourcing strategy, practices and initiatives are aligned with the company's business objectives and support the company's growth strategy.
Work with GP teams to build proper infrastructure required for effective management of sourcing projects and resources.
Manage and keep up to date opportunity analysis conducted by the GP organization.
Compile applicable GSMG PO&S related action items from SMLT meetings and manage completion as required.
Ensure consistency and accuracy of data across concurrent projects.
Supplier Management Leadership
Business requirements/cost management focus
Minimum of 10 years procurement/business management/supply chain experience, within manufacturing environment or company.
Minimum 10 years supply chain management experience in any of the following industries: manufacturing, consumer products, industrial, and others.
Knowledge of APICS or certification.
Experience managing a customer service organization.
Pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience.
Ownership: Ability to take the lead in planning and execution of activities.
Ability to operate autonomously.
Process Improvement and project management experience.
Working knowledge of other project management processes (e.g. risk, issue and assumptions management, change control and project reporting).
Understanding of the category management process.
Resilience and flexibility to succeed in a demanding and challenging project environment, including the ability to manage conflicting priorities.
Attention to detail and ability to deliver quality deliverables within required time-frames.
Advanced and skillful understanding of applications with focus on data analysis (Excel, Access, Report generating tools, project planning (MS Project) and presentation (Visio, PowerPoint, Word) tools.
