About this role:

This role creates thought leading Digital Commerce research to our Applications IT Leaders clients through published research, conversations with client (Inquiry), stage presentations, teleconferences, and client meetings. It is important that you have a vision for how Digital Commerce will evolve worldwide and at a regional level.

What you'll do:

As a Gartner analyst you will meet with clients every day: on the phone, in a video-conference, from the stage at a Gartner event or face-to-face during a sales support visit. In every client interaction analysts help clients solve difficult puzzles that lead to better performance. To support these conversations you will research markets, practices and trends and produce written research for Gartner clients to download and apply.

  • Conduct research and analysis in specific areas of expertise targeting client's key initiatives.

  • Deliver high quality actionable advice through a variety of media.

  • Write high quality, clear, actionable, advisory research documents.

  • Predict how Digital Commerce markets are developing, help clients in their selection process and assist vendors in overall market positioning.

  • Remain ahead of the curve on developments and issues within these specified areas as well as applicable adjacent areas.

  • Respond to client questions, create materials for and deliver to clients in person, via teleconference, video conference or webinar and event presentations

  • Maintain the Gartner's industry leadership reputation by responding to press inquiries

  • Proactively work with the wider sales organization and deliver outstanding sales support in order to retain and grow the business

What you'll need:

It helps to be obsessed with your topic! Gartner analysts are correctly viewed as THE experts. This means you need to know your markets, vendors, trends, management practices, etc. and be able to see the forest and the trees. Most Gartner analysts have many years of experience and enjoy solving puzzles.

  • Subject matter expertise in Digital Commerce, with the ability to demonstrate understanding of the business applications and opportunities in that market. Knowledge of the global landscape, and the competitive interplay between incumbents, emerging providers, disruptors and outsourcers

  • Knowledge of digital commerce strategy, digital commerce technologies and how organize and manage digital commerce operations

  • The candidate should be able to address questions like: How do you build a digital commerce strategy for B2C, B2B or both? How do you evaluate and select a digital commerce platform? What are the components of a digital commerce ecosystem and how do organizations manage and operate the platform and integrations?

  • Ability to demonstrate thought leadership around digital commerce trends and emerging technologies.

  • Demonstrated superior analytical skills, applying conceptual models, recognizing patterns while drawing and defending conclusions. Strong business and financial acumen as well as analytical skills are required for this position

  • Articulate and succinct communication skills. Publishing and Speaking engagements an advantage

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a research or technology related role

  • Bachelor's or equivalent experience, Master's degree preferred

  • Ability to conduct occasional travel, regionally and globally

About This Role Gartner is recruiting for a candidate to create research and advise Product Leaders in Technology and Service Providers serving the manufacturing industry. The successful candidate will enter a career path to become a leading industry expert in how IT creates value in manufacturing industries, its digital transformation (including some of the organizational and cultural aspects), how to achieve the business objectives by leveraging technology. As a Sr. Principal, Analyst, the candidate will collaborate with other team members to identify and research areas and topics of research interest and need in the mentioned industries. The selected candidate will advise Gartner clients on technical and management issues. This individual must be familiar with the processes, drivers and challenges to manufacturing companies, their customers and partners, as well as the activity cycles surrounding the deployment and implementation of technologies. We are looking for a candidate with knowledge about the consumer goods industry, with some knowledge of the technology solutions typically used in R&D and sales and marketing. Additional knowledge about the Industrial Manufacturing side would be a plus. What You'll Do * Advise clients (virtually and in-person), in multiple time zones and countries, on how to solve manufacturing company challenges at the intersection of business and IT. * Assist Gartner solution provider clients in their product portfolio management, partnerships, go to market strategies (e.g. value propositions, messaging and positioning, etc.), IT strategies, technology selections and IT as a business * Develop Gartner internal research plans by identifying clients must-have operational and strategic advisory requirements * Demonstrate forward-thinking analytic skills - seeking out and piecing together fragments of information, extrapolating data sets and survey results, building and applying conceptual models, recognizing patterns and drawing conclusions from disparate data. * Deliver high quality, clear, actionable, advisory research documents * Attend vendor briefings, vendor events, client meetings or exhibitions as required to further Gartner's research positions. * Assist and collaborate other parts of Gartner when required such as for sales support; support to Gartner's separate consulting division, and other research teams. * Coverage could include but is not limited to * The trends in manufacturing impacting CIOs, including specific trends of the consumer goods and industrial manufacturing sub-sector like disintermediation and everything-as-a-service * The impact of emerging technology on manufacturing innovations * Manufacturing Technology and strategies for systems like PLM, Trade Promotions, Retail Execution, Revenue Growth Management, CRM, e-commerce and other Manufacturing specific technologies * Transformational concepts such as Industrie 4.0, IIC or other ecosystem and platform initiatives What You Need * 7+ years of experience within information technology.
