SUMMARY

Oriden, headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, is a renewable energy developer focused on developing utility-scale solar PV and energy storage projects. The services we provide include project site origination, feasibility assessment, grid interconnection, design and engineering, community relations, environmental & technical studies, permitting, PPA origination, equipment procurement, project financing, construction management, ownership and asset management of renewable energy projects. The team is funded by Mitsubishi Power Ltd., a Japanese multinational with operations globally and regional headquarters in Lake Mary, FL.

We seek a colleague to join the Development team as a Director or Sr. Director, depending on experience.

The successful candidate will demonstrate sound industry knowledge, superior communications, and detail-oriented organizational skills. The Director of Development will have the ability and enthusiasm to drive projects forward with through project management, economic analysis, document negotiation, and transaction support across a pipeline of projects targeting wholesale power markets in the US.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Ability to independently own and manage project development of utility-scale solar power generation projects from start (greenfield development) to finish (financial close) to deliver projects on budget and on time.
Ability to communicate and sync cross-functionally on a regular basis to minimize project risks.
Direct and manage tax abatements, land use agreements, interconnection agreements, offtake agreements, and various other agreements in collaboration with a team of subject matter experts.
Direct and manage project budgets, objectives, schedules, and deliverables for assigned development projects.
Engage community, local and state institutions, and stakeholders for project support.
Manage contractors, vendors, and consultants to maintain project timeline and budget.
Ability to independently lead development project initiatives, task forces, or programs as necessary.
Provide Executive support during the investor due diligence process.
Capable of managing a team of Analysts, Associates, or Managers,
Act as a trusted collaborator with the broader development team for continuous improvement.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION

Qualified applicants will have the creativity and attention to detail necessary to develop utility scale solar projects. Display a strong drive to deliver results, persistent in overcoming obstacles and eager to take responsibility for making things happen in a complex development landscape. Successful candidates will also demonstrate evidence of working independently in an unstructured environment.

Experience: 7+ years of relevant experience is preferred and may include project management, energy management, energy and environmental policy or law, economic development, technical sales, construction management, or engineering;

Education: Undergraduate degree in business, engineering, economics, environmental studies, public policy, or relevant field. Graduate degree a plus, but not required.

Interdisciplinary understanding of business development and energy issues (technology, power markets, economics, and policy)
Ability to quickly understand the basics of a variety of subjects relating to solar energy and storage; including resource studies, environmental studies, transmission issues, public relations, public policy, sales, and engineering
