Overview

This position is responsible for developing and executing the vision for data, master data management and analytics solutions across all business functions and for all local and international business units within the company, including strategies and operating & tactical plans. Plays a critical role in driving large data digital transformation programs starting from blueprinting to implementation and rollout of solutions to mainstream data driven decision making, automation, better insight generation and dissemination of the insights. Supports business goals by collaborating with other senior leaders in all functional areas to define needs and ensure plans and strategies are well aligned with the Company's business plans and goals.

Key duties include developing, institutionalizing and delivering the analytics and data strategy, policies, processes and toolsets that will enable automated and self-serve reporting, insights generation and the full realization of data as a strategic asset in order to drive business value, insights, and growth across all BISSELL business units.

This role is expected to streamline data systems and data structures needed to enhance data-driven value creation via automated dashboards, advanced capabilities like data sciences and predictive analytics, and play a leading role in the formulation, external/internal insights integration, development, communications and execution of BISSELL's data strategy.

This position will also be responsible for accelerating the pace of digital transformation and innovation at BISSELL with high-impact insights, test and learn/iterative approach and applying an end to end consumer, customer and business functions success lens to each of the data and analytics solutions. They will partner closely with Digital Product, Architecture and Digital Engineering Leaders, key business stakeholders, and many other cross functional partners across the Enterprise.

The position leads a team of data and analytics professionals with credentials across data engineering, automation, Analytics, ML and Visualization. In addition, provides company-wide direction for policy and procedures for data management and governance.

The Global Director, Data and Analytics will report directly to the VP of Global Consumer Experience & Digital Strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Drive broad organizational engagement and alignment in digital data and analytics initiatives, experiences that matter most to consumers, customers, associates and in line with our business strategies.

  • Build the culture of continuous innovation by delivering tangible and showable outcomes in the Data and Analytics space in the form of solutions, proof of value, Concept prototypes etc.

  • Define and implement data governance and master data management policies, processes and corresponding solutions and consistent with our privacy and security policies.

  • Implement AI/ML and automation, improve consumer, user satisfaction and drive for operational agility and efficiencies to obtain measured business value.

  • Establish Data and Analytics COE to oversee and drive the development, delivery, and transformation of platforms & data products by establishing and consistently executing on data and analytics strategies and in alignment with a dynamic business and digital product roadmaps.

  • Build and foster a culture of digital and data engineering excellence and accountability capable of producing best-in-class data and analytics products with a focus on team, quality, agility, trust, and timely delivery.

  • Establish and maintain metrics, goals, and quality standards.

  • Form partnerships with key functions and senior leaders from across the organization

  • Develop and maintain an effective organizational structure and recruit, train and retain a highly talented professional staff whose functions cover all aspects of information systems.

  • Stay current with data and analytics trends, knowledge, and development to ensure state of the art technology is incorporated into Company plans.

  • Embed Data Science and Machine Learning models part of business decision making processes and realize the true value of AI.

Required Experience / Education

  • Degree minimum: Bachelor's degree required, preferably in data science, computer science, software engineering, business, economics, or similar quantitative fields

  • Minimum of 8 years work experience in a related field, in comparable leadership roles

  • Management experience supervising Analytics-related professional staff

  • Proven ability to develop and implement new processes, translating business objectives and concepts into roadmap and execution, experience with strategic planning, process improvement or data analytics solutions

  • Excellent ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with analytic and non-analytic business partners, including executive leadership, in order to elicit business needs and formulate, propose and refine analytic solutions in order to meet business needs and to drive efficiency and effectiveness improvements and business value.

  • Solid understanding of a variety of analytic processes and techniques

Strengths in structured and logical thinking, problem solving, issue resolution, and attention to detail

  • Exceptional analytical skills - ability to generate insight from complex analytics and make digestible to broad populations

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate with senior executive levels

Specialized Training / Education Preferred:

  • Master's degree in a quantitative field

  • Proven experience with business and customer outcomes delivered through data and analytics solutions as part of digital transformations

  • Experience with data lake, data lakehouse and other modern analytics solutions

  • Clear understanding of data governance, MDM, and data lifecycle management with the mindset of roles as solution architect, data architect and data modeler

  • Able to deliver dashboards with great user experience to provide key actionable insights

  • Championing an objective, data-driven culture

  • Proven track record of realizing the value of Machine learning and expertise in embedding ML in decision making

  • Experience in delivering Consumer/Customer/Product/Supplier/Marketing/Supply Chain Analytics

  • Experience in creating single view of the customer, product, supplier and corresponding insights hubs

  • Experience with customer data platform to enable heightened customer engagement

  • Proven track record of building teams from the ground up both onshore and offshore

  • Experience with data visualization tools such as DOMO, Tableau, Power BI or similar BI platforms

  • Show steady progress in increased technical and management responsibility

  • Ability to convert highly technical subject matter into understandable terms

International experience

  • Experience in a consumer products industry with retail interface
