Job Description:


Leadership and Strategic Planning

  • As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, strategically align people initiatives with business needs, and serve as a consistent advocate for BWIS team members

  • Lead, support, guide and develop 7 site Culture & People Development Leaders and teams

  • Serve as a key partner to the Packaging Platform VP of People, and a liaison to the Barry-Wehmiller Corporate People Team

  • Continually work to align legacy policies and practices across locations, to strengthen Culture & People Development team effectiveness and drive consistent team member experience

  • Maintain knowledge of domestic and relevant global HR policies, programs, laws and issues, and serve as an advisor to business leaders as needed

  • Develop and manage Culture & People Development budget and key performance indicators

Team Member Experience

  • Develop and strengthen recruitment, on-boarding and retention strategies and implementation plans

  • Manage vendor relationships for contingent workforce, inclusive of negotiating rates and fees that align to business goals

  • Continually assess the consistency and competitiveness of compensation programs and practices, and take action to address opportunities

  • Oversee divisional safety and wellbeing programs, with the goal of sending every team member everywhere home safe, well and fulfilled

  • Lead divisional succession planning process, to build talent bench and proactively address gaps. Promote cultural awareness and global understanding between domestic and global operations


  • In conjunction with the Vice President of Operations, Site Operations Leader and Corporate Culture & People Development Director, ensure a workable contract is negotiated and followed for the Teamster union in our Minneapolis location

  • Ensure all other sites maintain a union-free environment.

  • Participate in and/or lead special projects as needed


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or other related field

  • 10+ years' progressive leadership and strategic business planning experience

  • Applicable knowledge of employment legislation, wage and hour laws, and safety regulations advanced HR certification (s) preferred

  • Manufacturing and/or operations experience preferred, with labor relations and negotiations experience a plus

  • Demonstrated excellent written, verbal and presentation skills

ADA Requirements:

  • Typically sits, grasps items and performs keyboarding for occasional operation of a computer

  • Stand, walk, bend, reach or otherwise move about occasionally

  • Lift, move, or otherwise transfer items up to 30 lbs. occasionally

  • Occasional exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards

  • Travel by air or car 40%

Locations: Ideal candidate based in either our Romeoville, IL or Minneapolis, MN location Loveland, CO or Reedley, CA are options if need be
