Job Summary: The Director Nursing is responsible for the delivery of patient care that promotes safety and well-being of all patients in multiple assigned departments on a twenty-four hour basis.

Directly supervises all members of the nursing staff and evaluates personnel#s performance. Monitors care delivery to ensure appropriate patient outcomes. Develops staff#s clinical skills and knowledge. Minimum of 5 years experience in hospital or similar environment and minimum of 3 years in a managerial/supervisory role or similar experience required.

####Current Louisiana RN license

; BSN; CPR required.

####Knowledge and Proficient in use of at least one Staffing and Scheduling system required

####Ability to communicate professionally both verbally and in writing with a diverse population of employees

, physicians, patients and their families; ability to work productively under stressful circumstances; ability to perform tasks which may involve lifting, prolonged standing and walking; ability to promote customer service and mediate conflict in support of Touro#s mission, vision and values also required.

This job works collaboratively with a licensed nurse and Patient Care Technicians to provide for the delivery of patient care through the use of the nursing process. Communicates effectively with co-workers, patients, family and visitors. Provides a safe environment for the patient, provides basic care to assist the patient to reach optimal functioning considering their individual capabilities, and performs all functions as delegated by the staff nurse within their defined scope of practice. Education Required - High School diploma or equivalent Completed the sophomore year with a hospital-based clinical rotation of a National League of Nursing accredited school program Student in good standing with the school of nursing Preferred - Completed the junior year with a hospital-based clinical rotation of a National League of Nursing accredited school program Work Experience Required - None Certifications Required - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs) * Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information. * Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally. * Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard. * Strong interpersonal skills. * Judgment skills to monitor and respond to patient related changes in condition. Job Duties * Maintains a clean and safe environment in the patient care area. * Assists with the plan of care as delegated by the staff nurse within the scope of practice. * Provides care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned areas. * Communicates with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team (MDT). * Maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials. * Adapts to change in a positive constructive manner.
