As a member of the Global Technology, Cybersecurity, Procurement and Real Estate Law Group of the General Counsel's Organization, the Director & Counsel - Third Party Risk Management will provide legal support to business and legal colleagues related to third party risk management legal issues around the world.

Role & Responsibilities:

Collaborate with colleagues around the world on third party risk management.

  • Provide legal support and strategic advice related to third party risk management, including to the third party lifecycle management team, the bank vendor risk oversight team, and compliance and audit functions.

  • Advise on global third party risk management regulatory requirements.

  • Monitor and advise on global emerging outsourcing, cloud computing and third party risk management regulatory requirements and trends.

  • Support lobbying efforts related to proposed outsourcing and third party risk legislation.

  • Assist in the development of American Express strategy and policies related to third party risk management, including strategy for managing non-traditional relationships, affiliates, joint ventures, and FinTechs.

  • Support the third party risk management team activities associated with venture capital investments, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and other similar corporate transactions.

  • Support legal issues that may arise in the company's day-to-day participation in industry joint ventures, such as TruSight.

  • Prepare and support the delivery of internal training on third party risk issues.

  • Build positive working relationships across the legal department, business and third party risk teams and build relationships with external industry and trade groups.

  • Implement and improve methods for legal knowledge management within the team.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • J.D. with eligibility to practice law in New York, Georgia, Florida, or Washington D.C.

  • 6+ years of work experience involving third party risk management issues in a law firm and/or in-house corporate legal environment

  • Experience with laws governing financial institution third party risk management, including the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, OCC Third Party Risk Management Guidance, and EBA Guidelines on Outsourcing Arrangements

  • Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts

Preferred qualifications:

  • Strong interest and/or experience in third party lifecycle management and emerging technology

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to communicate complex issues clearly and persuasively

  • Demonstrated experience in gaining credibility, managing expectations, and developing strong working relationships with legal colleagues and clients

Analyst - Quality Assurance Description: This exciting opportunity is part of the Quality Assurance team within first line Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) of Global Supply Management and will report to the Manager, Quality Assurance. The Analyst, Quality Assurance will provide support to the Manager and Director of Quality Assurance in executing the validation program across the third-party lifecycle (pre- and post- contract) for Third Parties to assess the effectiveness and consistency of program execution. Responsibilities: Supporting the day-to-day execution of the Quality Assurance, including: * Assisting in planning of the Quality Assurance; * Leveraging key documentation and systems to perform testing; * Day-to-day execution of the test scripts; * Escalating any potential gaps to the testing team; * Ensuring all test scripts, work papers and reports are completed according to TLM quality assurance standards and timelines; * Assisting in validating closure of action plans resulting from quality assurance; * Performing special projects, compile data and prepare reports; * Maintaining necessary documentation, records and files to assure efficient and consistent reporting of quality assurance efforts; and * Performing quality control reviews of completed work papers. * Following up on action items with action plan owners. * Identify leading practices and drive improvements to the methodologies/processes. * Fulfill requests for testing workpapers from the regulators, the internal audit group or other control groups Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree or 2 years of work experience. * Minimum Experience Requirement: 2+ years of experience. * Possess the ability to quickly gain an understanding of Third-Party systems and processes * Successful candidates must also possess the following soft skills: * Familiarity with Third party operations and processes. * Familiarity with regulations related to third party risk management. * Ability to multi-task effortlessly and manage competing priorities under demanding deadlines. * Ability to analyze data and identify potential compliance or operational issues, potential root causes, and feasible operational solutions. * Strong collaborative skills and ability to work in a matrix environment and on cross-functional teams. * Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
