Purpose

The Director of Financial and HR Systems is responsible for the corporate financial and human resource systems for Save A Lot. They provide technology solutions for enterprise financial and human resource functions including: recruiting, on-boarding, timekeeping, benefits administration, payroll processing, general ledger, accounts receivables, accounts payables, and financial management. The Director will drive the technology road map and successfully manage complex, enterprise-level initiatives. They will lead the technology team in developing and implementing new capabilities in support of our business and maintain existing technology systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains the strategic road map for financial and human resources systems in collaboration with business stakeholders.

  • Establish an organizational structure and build a high performing team that is well positioned for long-term success.

  • Participate in strategic systems optimization activities, including assessment of available features & functionality associated with releases.

  • Manages the full life cycle of projects and the associated planning. Ensures that business deliverables are consistently met and that solutions provided meet stringent quality standards.

  • Maintains strong relationship with business stakeholders.

  • Manage program budget, provide financial forecasts, track project milestones, and deliver expected return on investment.

  • Actively collaborates across all levels of the organization.

  • Directly manage key vendor and consulting relationships with a high level of accountability and performance oversight.

  • Ensures data integrity, system security, and testing of system changes.

Minimum Requirements

About You

  • Must have a strong background in financial/human resource technology, system integration, data architecture, application development, and agile software development methodologies.

  • Experience implementing and managing cloud based, SaaS financial and human resource systems preferably Oracle Cloud.

  • 12+ years of technology experience with Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field

  • 7+ years leading technology teams responsible for developing and delivering corporate financial and human resource system solutions

  • 10+ years of overall software/systems development experience in a complex enterprise environment

  • 10+ years experience with enterprise systems and data integration in diverse technical environments.

  • 5+ years of leading Agile development teams

  • Ability to lead cross functional teams, projects, and processes

  • Retail experience is preferable

  • Deep expertise and experience with solution design and delivery and integration of large-scale complex of enterprise systems

  • Experience managing and planning technology budgets and forecasts

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.

Develops vision, sets performance goals and communicates across the merchandising organization. This role ensures the integrity, ownership, and execution of merchandising initiatives and business development plans for their teams' categories. Collaborates with corporate and Retail Partner stores to ensure category business plans are customer centric and reflect local market/ethnic standards. Ensures compliance with all industry, corporate and government regulations. Responsibilities * Establish strategic vision and articulate financial obligations for multiple categories * Directly lead, select talent, coach and develop a team of category managers and analysts * Develop Category Business Plans (CBP) and adjust them to ensure financial targets are met on an annual and period basis * Reconcile growth progress to targets and identify where focus should be placed by emphasizing or de-emphasizing categories (reconciles multiple desks together and interacts with other categories) * Manage relationships with Strategic Vendor Partners, negotiate terms and garner support (financial, resources) to sustain the strategic vision * Visit vendors on a regular basis * Represent the strategic and financial interest of categories during yearly planning and quarterly/period/weekly meetings * Responsible for building on the department strategic platform and ensuring it supports the company's platform * Deliver on Private Brand strategic goals to establish long term Private Brand growth * Partner with promotional team on creation and implementation of a promotional calendar by major category. Track results at the end of each promotion in terms for sales, P&L share growth or contribution * Ensure promo activities maintain locally relevant and meet the go-to-market strategies of the region * Collaborate across department and retail partners to ensure category growth and cross functional alignment * Review full assortment and develop plans to addresses consumer needs and local/ethnic relevance * Review lines and new items with national vendors and own discontinue/markdown planning for all items * Work in collaboration with Corporate Retail and Retail Partners to collect category performance feedback and lead merchandising planning and plan-o-gram development for assigned categories based on store clusters and ethnicity information * Approve section sizes and adjacencies in schematic plans for individually managed categories * Create, develop, and recommend business cases for capital expenditures (shelving, fixtures, and store layout) to present to Senior Leadership * Approve national brand contracts and present them to Senior Leadership for sign off * Effectively communicate category changes/improvements to the retailer community Minimum Requirements About You The role places you at the heart of the action. You are a connector of people, a collaborator and tenacious in your desire to do great work. * Bachelor's degree or an equivalent amount of experience required. MA or MBA preferred. * Relevant experience required plus 5+ or more years of retail merchandising experience across multiple banners and geographies. * Has an in-depth understanding of store operations and merchandising methodologies and practices (P&L, financial management, etc.)? Greater depth of specific category expertise may be required on a case-by-case basis. * Must have a strong knowledge base in supermarket retail and an understanding of consumer behavior in relation to product performance; must carry a detailed understanding of cause-effect relations between operational levers and performance (assortment/price vs. volume/margins) by utilizing financial, statistical, merchandising, marketing, and/or consumer research background. * Strong financial background. * Proven ability to work successfully across all areas of the company; can successfully monitor performance; strong client management skills, particularly working with vendors; ability to influence and lead effective partnerships with the banners; can thrive in a complicated matrix environment. * Champions new ideas and initiatives and creates an environment that supports innovation; leverages fresh perspectives, breakthrough ideas, and new paradigms to create value in the market. * Must demonstrate ability to negotiate contracts and terms in order to gain maximum advantage for costs and vendor funding opportunities.
