The Director, Corporate systems engineering will work with the senior management team to define the long-term technology strategy, roadmap, and drive the plan through execution. Additionally, this person will be responsible for ensuring smooth operations of all corporate systems, tools, hardware across all global locations and corporate headquarters in Philadelphia, PA. The right candidate has a proven record of successfully collaborating with business stakeholders, providing sound architectural and technical direction to engineering teams and vendors, and defining and managing strategic technology plans that align with business needs.

You will lead a team of managers and IT professionals in support of Server Engineering, End User computing, management & Help Desk. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, highly self-directed and capable of working without close supervision and in cooperation with other functional units, possess excellent communication and presentation skills to be effective both up and down the leadership chain.

Oversee the technology support function. Define the helpdesk process and continue to refine the function as needed, work to implement changes, and ensure that all employees are receiving the support they require to perform their job functions. Manage IT staff, including hiring, training, evaluation, guidance, and performance management and monitor all functions within IT department to ensure compliance to work standards. Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the executives, management and key stakeholders on projects regarding pertinent IT activities. Develop annual IT plan according to defined business goals and company strategic direction.


ITS Infrastructure & ITS Workplace

  • Provide leadership and direction over a 24x7x365 global IT operation

  • Create, implement, and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans, solutions, and corporate operations enterprise wide

  • Integrate and maintain operational compliance with enterprise security policies, standards, and procedures in lockstep with the CISO organization

  • Create, implement, and maintain a technology roadmap aligned to strategic business goals

  • Continuous improvement of operational procedures and customer experience by providing regular feedback (survey) on how to enhance, grow, and tune the operational process

  • Work with stakeholders (Business Units, CISO, Corporate) to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations

  • Analyze existing operations and make recommendations for the improvement and efficient growth of the network infrastructure and IT systems

  • Enhance and maintain IT management functions aligned with the ITIL framework

  • Conduct research and remain current with the latest technologies and solutions in support of engineering and procurement efforts

  • Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives

  • Manage operations staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Program Management, Systems Administration and third-party infrastructure and tool providers


  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Management or similar discipline

  • 15 years experience in hands-on engineering capacity as a software engineer, support engineer, Systems administrator, or similar role. 10+ years of leadership experience in information technology.

  • Prior experience as a functional leader within an enterprise-scale environment.

  • Experience leading multiple technology initiatives and work streams at once.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Broad technical knowledgeunderstanding of basic networking principals, and software engineering fundamentals.

  • Ability to set standards for proper support helpdesk methodology.

  • Ability to communicate architectures and technical ideas and incorporate new technological developments to enhance the consumer experience and business function.

  • Ability to lead presentations & meetings effectively, keeping on track and facilitating relevant discussion

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple projects and activities including securing appropriate resources

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with proven record of applying knowledge and negotiation skills to facilitate resolution of complex issues

  • Logical Thinker; Ability to think creatively; Good overall business knowledge.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

This requires stewarding existing institutional donors, identifying new prospects, and working on behalf CHOP in deepening relationship and engagement with companies, corporate foundations, and private foundations. S/he is also responsible for building trusted relationships with doctors, clinical staff, executives, trustees, and other constituents. S/he will be a dynamic communicator and have confident writing and editorial skills which will aid in preparing compelling proposals and translating content for lay audiences. This fundraising position will support the focus on helping to grow the corporate pipeline for CFR and the successful candidate will have experience in corporate relations, corporate giving and strategy development. As a frontline fundraiser for CHOP, this individual will also act as an ambassador for CHOP be able to work collaboratively with gift officers and other CHOP Foundation staff. Job Responsibilities * Develop and maintain new and existing corporate and foundation relationships for the Hospital with strong long-term potential for partnership by professionally managing a portfolio of prospects in all aspects of the development cycle. * Advance corporate philanthropic partnerships, with focus on growing existing relationships and establishing new corporate donors for CHOP * Maintain a portfolio of 50+ active donors and prospects with strong giving potential and varying levels of capacity with a focus on gifts/grants of $50,000 or more. Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward large grants (>$100,000) in support of institutional priorities. * Identify prospects that have the capability to make a leadership commitment to the Hospital, and develop a comprehensive strategy to solicit. * Collaborate and strategize with doctors and hospital staff * Submit grant applications, proposals (i.e. grant-writing), and stewardship reports * Arrange meetings, tours or visits with prospects to identify interests within CHOP * Build and maintain relationships with corporate supporters through appropriate stewardship (i.e. recognition events, hospital campus tours, speaking engagements) * Develop and strengthen relationship between Development and hospital physicians and staff, creating more opportunities for support for CHOP. * Develop compelling research-based proposals for prospects in collaboration with the CHOP Research Institute. * Prepare proposals, grant agreements, and presentation materials; create and implement proactive stewardship plans for partners, including but not limited to, writing and designing tailored articles for newsletters, websites, press releases, social media and other outlets for recognition when necessary. * Assist the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations in annual strategic planning on ongoing strategic engagement of donors and CHOP's Corporate Council activities. * May supervise and manage staff as directed Required Education and Experience Required Education: Bachelors Degree Required Experience: At least five (5) years of fundraising, healthcare and/or combined corporate experience Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic Preferred Experience: Grant-writing experience Additional Technical Requirements * Working knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office a requirement.
