About The Role

As a Director in our Healthcare & Life Sciences sector, you will take an active role in promoting the day-to-day management of client accounts. This person will align with both the Healthcare and Life Sciences sector, as well as our Corporate Reputation team. FTI Consulting's Corporate Reputation practice partners with our clients to design and execute multi-stakeholder campaigns that build confidence, enhance positioning and help elicit action among key stakeholder groups.

As a successful Director, you will be responsible for managing both up and down within account teams to appropriately service client communications programs. You will interact with and provide communications at client companies; develop and execute communications strategies to deliver results and meet client expectations; draft documents for client use (including communications plans, strategy memos, press releases, interview preparation memos, etc.); provide perspective to clients on internal, peer, and market developments as such pertains to the media and marketplace; regularly plan for media interaction and converse with the media and investment communities. What You'll Do

Client Service

  • Assess and develop positioning for clients; engage in reputation and/or change management work

  • Develop and refine client strategies and appropriate messages

  • Monitor, research, and report on industry trends or healthcare issues, peer companies and media coverage

  • Identify strategic opportunities to further the clients' reputation

  • Be prepared to mitigate risk and take advantage of opportunities based on regulatory or business developments

Client Relationships / Account Management

  • Assist account leads with managing programs on a day-to-day basis; operate with minimal supervision and lead workstreams

  • Counsel clients about industry, company, and market developments

  • Help clients identify and escalate risks in order to act and communicate with integrity

Strategy & Planning

  • Assist senior team members in creatively developing, preparing, and executing communications

  • Identify emerging opportunities to add more value for the client

  • Anticipate potentially difficult situations and be able to evaluate strategies and alternatives with senior management

Team Contributions & Characteristics

  • Work with junior staff as a leader and demonstrate mentoring ability

  • Actively support new business development efforts

What You Will Need to Succeed

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, English, or related business field

  • Minimum 5+ years of work experience at a communications agency, a relevant in-house communications team (specializing in healthcare) or something similar

  • Healthcare & Life Sciences sector knowledge is required

  • Strong media relations skills and relationships are required

  • This role requires travel to clients and FTI office(s)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Solid grasp of healthcare landscape

  • Demonstrated development of a professional network and experience with healthcare media contacts

  • Experience with media database tools and pitching media to secure client coverage

  • Experience with media database tools and pitching media to secure client coverage

  • Proven project management skills and the ability to proactively support/counsel key client relationships

  • Strong time and priority management skills and an ability to juggle multiple client accounts

  • Ability to convey information effectively and accurately, verbally or in writing

  • A high level of integrity and convey to confidential information

  • · Computer proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and Word
