The Communications Team:

Story-telling is at the heart of VMware's future growth; with great stories we inspire our customers, influencers, stakeholders and employees about the positive impact VMware technologies can have in business and in our communities. The Global Corporate Communications team leads the storytelling function at VMware. We are a team of around 60 communications professionals spanning public relations, reputation management, analyst relations, content, narrative, thought-leadership and employee communications. It's a fast paced, dynamic, and exciting environment. The Role:

This newly created role will lead our proactive corporate reputation strategy, and third party influencer campaigns. This role will work closely with stakeholders across the business and externally to position VMware as a purpose-driven and innovative Leader in technology.

This role will report to the VP Corporate Communications and partner closely across a variety of teams in the business including: media, gov relations, integrated storytelling, brand, and global impact teams; and external partners including World Economic Forum, think tanks and other relevant agencies. Key focus of the role will be to shape our proactive corporate reputation strategic program including corporate thought-leadership platforms and impactful stakeholder events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Articulate and activate proactive reputation strategy, closely aligned with VMware's corporate narrative and business priorities

  • Develop and manage comprehensive program of initiatives and events

  • Partner with external organizations to broaden VMware's profile, build external validation and drive positive reputation

  • Partner with key stakeholders to develop associated content including research reports, blogs, podcasts, videos or more

  • Partner closely with gov relations team to identify and build out reputation-focused moments aligned with our policy priorities

  • Develop rich story-telling approach to reputation content in partnership with Integrated Storytelling team

  • Deliver regular cadence of reputation-focused moments using variety of channels and creative approaches

Skills & Competencies:

This role requires previous experience in reputation strategy, stakeholder engagement, content and events together with strong creative flair and the ability to get stuff done! Specifically, the candidate should be able to demonstrate a strong track record in the following areas:

  • Understanding complex issues, analyzing options, and developing communications strategies that advance the organization's interests.

  • Ability to link communications activities to business outcomes.

  • Ability to create and drive strong, business-aligned narrative, messaging and content

  • Development of smart, strategic and effective stakeholder engagement strategies

  • Superb story-telling skills: fresh-thinking, creative and visual with a strong editorial point of view across variety of channels

  • Designing and executing stakeholder events

  • Proven ability to successfully engage, influence and cultivate strong relationships with senior leadership, business partners and third-party stakeholders

  • Being an ambassador for the company including high-level stakeholder engagement

  • Strong experience in at least three of the following domains: Communications, Marketing, Corporate Responsibility, Public affairs, Event / Program management, Content.

  • Excellent collaborative problem-solving with a high level of maturity and judgment able to successfully manage competing agendas to deliver mutually positive outcomes.

  • Social media and interactive content savvy. Able to harness new content approaches effectively with a keen understanding of all types of media/channels that will engage our audiences

  • Experience executing programs across international markets.

  • Effective budget management and metrics

Core Responsibilities: * Business Partner to the Global Accounts Sales team with primary responsibility to three geography Sales leaders (Americas, EMEA, and APJ) and head of strategy for Global Accounts. * Lead overall FP&A processes including topline Bookings, headcount, and expenses. * Lead annual planning processes including coordination of product level bookings planning, and GEO interlock on both bookings and spend targets. * Assist in the development of the long-term plans and financial models advancing strategic programs. * Development and communication of quarterly business results for overall customer operations leadership team. * Work with sales and Deal Management Team (DMT) on review of key deals including product mix, discounting, and territory splits. * Understand and influence commissions planning and large deal treatment. * Develop of consistent metrics and reporting to help sales and finance evaluate success of Global Accounts across the company. Required Skills * 10-15 years of experience handling full P&L in growth organization balancing topline with increased bottom line results. * At least 5 years of experience supporting a worldwide sales organization * Excellent communication skill, and strong initiative and desire to work in a team-oriented environment. * Strength in researching, understanding and succinctly explaining complex transactions and business impact. * Ability to work independent in a dynamic environment and tolerate ambiguity. * Strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills. Proficiency in computer-based analysis and complex financial modeling. * Ability to drive process-based improvement across functions and within Finance. * Ability to build partnerships across functions, especially with sales and sales operation leaders. * Experience leading a small worldwide team (2-3 managers/analyst). * Strong executive leadership experience, with excellent consulting, influence, and negotiation skills Desired Skills * MBA, or CPA * Industry Preferences: Software, systems and/or cloud services. * Experience in both large (multi-billion) and small to medium sized company experience for a broad perspective of best practices and cultural comfort.
