The Communications Team:
Story-telling is at the heart of VMware's future growth; with great stories we inspire our customers, influencers, stakeholders and employees about the positive impact VMware technologies can have in business and in our communities. The Global Corporate Communications team leads the storytelling function at VMware. We are a team of around 60 communications professionals spanning public relations, reputation management, analyst relations, content, narrative, thought-leadership and employee communications. It's a fast paced, dynamic, and exciting environment. This newly created role will lead our proactive corporate reputation strategy, and third party influencer campaigns. This role will work closely with stakeholders across the business and externally to position VMware as a purpose-driven and innovative Leader in technology.
This role will report to the VP Corporate Communications and partner closely across a variety of teams in the business including: media, gov relations, integrated storytelling, brand, and global impact teams; and external partners including World Economic Forum, think tanks and other relevant agencies. Key focus of the role will be to shape our proactive corporate reputation strategic program including corporate thought-leadership platforms and impactful stakeholder events.
Articulate and activate proactive reputation strategy, closely aligned with VMware's corporate narrative and business priorities
Develop and manage comprehensive program of initiatives and events
Partner with external organizations to broaden VMware's profile, build external validation and drive positive reputation
Partner with key stakeholders to develop associated content including research reports, blogs, podcasts, videos or more
Partner closely with gov relations team to identify and build out reputation-focused moments aligned with our policy priorities
Develop rich story-telling approach to reputation content in partnership with Integrated Storytelling team
Deliver regular cadence of reputation-focused moments using variety of channels and creative approaches
Skills & Competencies:
This role requires previous experience in reputation strategy, stakeholder engagement, content and events together with strong creative flair and the ability to get stuff done! Specifically, the candidate should be able to demonstrate a strong track record in the following areas:
Understanding complex issues, analyzing options, and developing communications strategies that advance the organization's interests.
Ability to link communications activities to business outcomes.
Ability to create and drive strong, business-aligned narrative, messaging and content
Development of smart, strategic and effective stakeholder engagement strategies
Superb story-telling skills: fresh-thinking, creative and visual with a strong editorial point of view across variety of channels
Designing and executing stakeholder events
Proven ability to successfully engage, influence and cultivate strong relationships with senior leadership, business partners and third-party stakeholders
Being an ambassador for the company including high-level stakeholder engagement
Strong experience in at least three of the following domains: Communications, Marketing, Corporate Responsibility, Public affairs, Event / Program management, Content.
Excellent collaborative problem-solving with a high level of maturity and judgment able to successfully manage competing agendas to deliver mutually positive outcomes.
Social media and interactive content savvy. Able to harness new content approaches effectively with a keen understanding of all types of media/channels that will engage our audiences
Experience executing programs across international markets.
