Director, Corporate Accounting

Position Summary

The Director, Corporate Accounting, is responsible for leading and developing the corporate accounting team to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of our financial statements. In this capacity, you will oversee all month-end closing activities, monthly internal reporting to management, and external SEC financial reporting. This role requires comprehensive knowledge of GAAP, SEC regulations, and internal controls, as well as strong leadership and management skills. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities are also essential for effectively interpreting complex accounting matters and fostering continuous improvement in accounting operations.

In This Role, You Will

• Lead and manage the corporate accounting team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support

• Oversee the completion and review of monthly accounting close activities

• Manage the revenue accrual process and review analyses of monthly revenue and production

• Direct the preparation of the financial statements and related schedules for the monthly financial package and quarterly SEC filings

• Manage internal controls and ensure compliance with SOX requirements

• Coordinate audit activities and act as the main contact for external auditors

• Review technical accounting memorandums for submission to management and auditors

• Assist in continuously improving the automation of accounting and reporting processes

• Perform other financial accounting duties, as assigned

What We Require

• Bachelor's degree in Business, majoring in Accounting

• CPA with eight (8) - twelve (12) years of public company or public accounting experience

• Experience in the oil & gas industry along with SOX compliance preferred

• Precise computation skills and rapid problem-solving ability

• Strong understanding of GAAP accounting and financial/operational understanding

• Highly developed knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel

• Solid interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build relationships in a small team environment
