We're looking for a skilled, creative, and inclusive technology leader to grow and lead a new team at Netflix. The Corporate Engineering team serves a variety of enterprise-wide technology functions that make our employees more productive, streamline business operations, support corporate technology infrastructure, and align our many distributed technology investments.

The Details

The Director of Corporate Engineering leads three primary functions and teams. The Corporate Systems and Services team provides and supports robust and scalable systems, platforms, and SaaS offerings for our global employee base.

The Employee Applications team builds custom solutions for our employees and internal business teams to drive productivity and efficiency. And our Business Engagement function liaises effectively across the business and distributed technology teams to understand and align on technology needs and directions.

To succeed in this role, you'll be an experienced leader who loves technology, understands how business needs can be addressed through IT services and delivery, and enjoys proactively building relationships with colleagues across the business. You'll be passionate about creating and leading a diverse and inclusive team and helping them do great things. This role can be based in either our Los Gatos, CA or Hollywood, CA offices.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader who is technically strong, energetic, highly collaborative and passionate about the product and our customers. You will manage and lead a team of developers responsible for our high-performance content identification platform. </p> We work in a collaborative environment, value transparent communication and feedback, and make learning fun. We are a SaaS company, so close ties with the operations team is a must.<p><br></p><p><strong>Responsibilities</strong><br></p><ul> <li>Drive the execution and delivery of features by collaborating with cross functional teams, architects, product owners and engineers </li> <li>Manage and develop a team of engineers</li> <li>Make critical decisions that attribute to the success of the product </li> <li>Partner with Product Management to align with objectives, priorities, tradeoffs and risk </li> <li>Ensure teams have clear priorities and adequate resources </li> <li>Provide technical guidance, career development, and mentoring to team members </li> <li>Maintain high morale and motivate the delivery team to go above and beyond </li> <li>Be a vocal advocate for technical excellence and helping the teams make good decisions; Drive a culture of innovation and continuous learning</li> <li>Participate in architecture discussions and planning </li> <li>Participate in cross-functional coordination, planning, and reviews with leads from other engineering teams </li> <li> Contribute to feature verification to gain understanding of the deeply technical product and to keep your technical acumen sharp</li> <li>Develop an understanding of current business issues and be able to provide timely advice to Engineering leadership</li> <li>Partner with the VP, Engineering to define and lead the strategy and roadmap balancing short- and long-term priorities against business goals</li> <li>Evangelize the product vision internally and externally. Be able to represent the company, product, and team at all levels</li> </ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><ul> <li>10+ years’ overall engineering experience. </li> <li>5+ years’ experience at a Director level</li> <li>Master's / Bachelor’s degree required in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Equivalent Experience </li> <li>Proven success leading software development projects with a distinguished track record on technically demanding projects</li> <li>Experience in developing high performance server-to-server systems which are highly available</li> <li>Ability to proactively anticipate and resolve issues </li> <li>Strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational and time management skills </li> <li>Ability to be nimble, proactive, comfortable working with minimal specifications </li> <li>Experience with short release cycles, the full software lifecycle, and experience working on a product that has been released for public consumption </li> <li>Experience in hiring and developing smart, talented engineers </li> <li>Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices including coding standards, code reviews, SCM, CI, build processes, testing, and operations </li> <li>Experience with Agile development methodologies </li> <li>Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and project management to understand requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs</li> </ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Nice To Have Skills</strong></p><ul><li>Working knowledge of C, C++, and C# </li></ul><p><strong>Benefits</strong></p><ul> <li>Base + Bonus</li> <li>401k</li> <li>Dental and vision benefits</li> <li>PTO</li> <li>Sick Leave</li> </ul> Audible Magic Los Gatos CA
