The Director, Contracts will be responsible to lead and execute the International, Municipality, Commercial, and US Government Contracts and Sub-Contracts. The position will report to the Vice President, Contracts & Finance.
MTSI is a global leader in Live Fire and Virtual training equipment. MTSI currently has ~400 employees in 7 countries-US, UK, Australia, Canada, Singapore, Holland, and UAE, performing sales and service activities with a majority of the employees located in Suwanee, GA. Most of the production and engineering is performed in Suwanee.
Job Core Responsibilities
Plan, direct, develop, manage activities and provide oversight of staff with the negotiation, preparation, monitoring and termination of contracts between the company and customers
Ensure the fulfillment of all contractual obligations
Engage with BU sales, finance, site leads in negotiation of agreements and claims resolution
Analyze/define/implement improvements to International, Municipality, Commercial and US Government Contracts processes
Define and deploy International, Municipality, Commercial, and US Government Contracts standard work processes to maximize productivity and efficiency
Drive contractual and claims alignment with the company's contractual and risk acceptance guidelines; ensure adherence to Meggitt policy and applicable laws/regulations
Interpret Terms & Conditions risk, and advise management on contractual rights and obligations
Negotiate, both directly and in a supporting position as appropriate, resolution of key new contracts, extensions, long term agreements, and customer claims issues
Create and review business cases; review/evaluate/critique business cases created by others as relate to Commercial activities
Engage with key functions (Sales, Engineering, Finance, Legal, Export, Compliance, etc.) to ensure optimal outcome for the company from a Commercial perspective
Support the sales team bid process, responses to RFI/RFQ solicitations, and help obtain required approvals
Draft, review, and finalize contract documents, providing Commercial leadership
Provide authoritative guidance to internal business teams on critical contract/legal concerns and requirements in cooperation with Corporate Guidelines and Legal direction
Drive Commercial skills development appropriately across key functional teams to continually improve execution around Commercial processes
Exercise good judgment and discretion at all times in matters of significance
Engage Meggitt legal counsel on occasion when supplemental legal support is necessary
Participate in industry events and supplier forums where beneficial for the business
Accelerate time-to-closure of contract negotiations and claim resolutions
Secure Meggitt preferred positions on terms and conditions
Execute multiple competing priorities in a timely fashion
Ensure contracts repository process is in place and maintained
Bachelor's degree in an appropriately relevant field; Masters degree is a plus
10+ years experience as a leader of International, Municipality, Commercial and US Government Contracts activities as outlined in this job description
5 years in a managerial capacity overseeing and developing and contracts staff.
Proven skill-set and ability relative to US Government FAR/DFAR negotiations/contracting
Direct experience leading complex negotiations for military and non-military deals
Significant Commercial and Contracts experience in a computer software and Intellectual property
Construction industry experience a plus
Ability to multi-task and drive multiple priorities
Well developed and proficient written/verbal communications
Extensive experience drafting and interpreting contract terms
Proven ability to build relationships while enhancing Commercial process performance/output
Able to work independently, drawing on depth of experience
Able to accommodate travel as needed (less than 20%)
Team player able to balance customer perspective while ensuring optimal results for the company
Proficient with Microsoft Office tools: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Experience with Deltek Costpoint a plus
