Job Description:
GENERAL SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Director of Human Resources is responsible for the school district's overall personnel operations and contract management of professional and classified support staff, including but not limited to: advising/counseling staff, transfers, retirement, leaves of absence, promotions, terminations, reduction in force, certification, severance pay, salary placement, all facets of labor relations that are in accordance with Connecticut State Statutes and Board policies, record-keeping, and processing of job applications, which contributes to the overall efficiency and success of the operation of the school system.
The Director of Human Resources is responsible for monitoring the performance evaluation process, developing and maintaining current job descriptions, administering all collective bargaining agreements in accordance with contract provisions and other responsibilities that are assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Holds B.S./M.S. Degrees concentrating in the area of personnel and related subjects. Additional graduate study in Educational Leadership (092) preferred.
Minimum of three years of administrative experience in personnel management, preferably in an educational setting
Knowledge of current local, state and federal laws concerning personnel management and related issues;
Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate and positively interact with administrators, teachers, classified school employees, the Board and public.
A solid understanding of contract negotiations, union practices, compliance issues, labor laws and information management systems.
Excellent written and interpersonal skills.
Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in the use of Google Suite (Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Gmail).
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve month contract year. Salary to be set annually by the Board of Education on recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools.
EVALUATION:
Performance of the Director of Human Resources to be evaluated annually by the Superintendent.
