Director, Compliance

Unitec Elevator is a part of American Elevator Group (AEG) company, a collection of well-established elevator service companies operating across the United States. Backed by Arcline Investment Management, AEG has a significant footprint in the elevator industry and is rapidly growing. We are looking for an experienced Director, Compliance to help continue to expand our NYC location.

Reporting to the EVP, Service the Director of Compliance ensures that all operations and business activities follow local, state, and federal elevator maintenance and repair regulations. They will draft and uphold company policies, lead training initiatives, and oversee internal and external audits. This role serves as the bridge between the company and regulatory agencies, fostering clear communication.

The Director, Compliance will focus on ensuring the following:

Responsible for regulatory adherence, continuously monitoring compliance with federal, state, and local elevator maintenance and repair regulations.

Draft policy developments to maintain and communicate internal policies to ensure operational activities align with regulatory requirements.

Ensure collaboration of policies and regulations are communicated between the Testing, Maintenance, and Repair departments for detecting threats and crucial risk reduction.

Lead training and development initiatives to update the team on the latest compliance requirements and best practices.

Oversee risk management, identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability, and develop strategies to mitigate potential risks.

Manager audits and inspections, leading internal and external compliance audits and inspections, ensuring all corrective actions are taken as necessary.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, Law, or a related field.

A master's degree or relevant certifications would be a plus.

Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in compliance, preferably within the elevator maintenance and repairs industry.

Proficiency in compliance software and tools.

Familiarity with federal, state, and local compliance regulations.

Exceptional organizational and documentation skills.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Proactive mindset with a strong focus on details, accuracy, and problem-solving abilities.

Mostly office-based but may require occasional visits to field locations.

Exposure to confidential company data and sensitive regulatory information.

Requires extended periods of sitting and computer usage.

Occasional lifting of files or paper, light physical activity.
