Job Role and Responsibilities:

  • Develop competitive intelligence, critical insights, and recommendations to positively influence strategic decisions with VMware's executive team and key business stakeholders.

  • Build in-depth studies analyzing top competitors (e.g. Microsoft, Cisco) and assess strategic, go-to-market, and technological gaps.

  • Compare and contrast VMware vs the competition in order to provide impact assessments and recommendations to improve VMware's position in the market.

  • Develop market evolution hypotheses and anticipate competitive dynamics, including the identification of emerging competitive threats.

  • Evolve competitive program engagement model, with a focus on broadening internal customer base across VMware business units and increase frequency and depth of touch points throughout the year.

  • Forge strong relationships with business leaders to understand strategy and pain points, and ensure competitive content is strategically aligned and impactful.

  • Engage industry analysts to ascertain relevant research, scope custom projects, and build RFPs.

  • Become embedded in business unit strategy and planning processes, including long range planning, fiscal year planning, worldwide sales kickoff, and other strategic initiatives throughout the year.

  • Track major competitive announcements and proactively build awareness of key competitor moves (e.g. AWS shift toward distributed cloud model)

  • Develop detailed project plans, clear process for engagement with stakeholders, clarify intent and goals, establish strategic imperatives, etc.

  • Present competitive studies and key insights and align with VMware senior leaders on recommendations and areas of focus. Measure level of engagement and meaningful use of competitive content throughout the year.

Required Skills:

  • At least 10 years in competitive intelligence for a software or cloud-based company. Strong understanding of infrastructure software, security, management, analytics, and developer platforms across private and public cloud.

  • Executive level presentation skills. Capable of articulating recommendations clearly, handling objections, and switching between big picture thinking and detailed requirements.

  • Exceptional technical depth with competence to explain and debate at the architectural level. Consistent knowledge builder with an eye on leading edge technology and business models.

  • Ability to collaborate within a small team environment. Precision PowerPoint development required, with high attention to detail and format.

  • Self-starter with a bias for action and results orientation. Able to prioritize, focus, and execute through obstacles. Innovative thinker with analytical problem-solving skills.

  • Degrees in engineering, computer science and MBA preferred

Preferred Skills:

  • Eagerness to translate high-level business objectives into actions

  • Excellent communications skills, with the ability to synthesize, simplify and explain complex problems to different types of audience, including executives

  • Experience in Software, Cloud, or Infrastructure such as Compute, Network, Storage

We are looking for a solution-minded for a Senior Manager, Process Project Manager with a process ownership mindset, a passion for SaaS/Hybrid and the communication skills to lead a team of high-performing process analysts. This person will be responsible for managing process design for VMware's most complex channel transformation initiatives. Responsibilities: * Build, run and join your team of process analysts as you all aim to support new process creation and existing process optimization * Align project prioritization with WorldWide Partner and Commercial Organization transformation strategies * Focus on partnership with GTM and technical teams (including IT) on complex M&A integration projects * Gather, analyze & prioritize customer and partner requirements * Build customer and partner use cases * Work with cross-functional process owners to define desired workflows, corresponding scale, and scope of effort * Work with leadership and peers to handle intake and onboarding of new projects, including resource allocation * Documentation ownership across all processes built Required Skills: * Must have recent people management experience * Must have channel/partner experience; preferred to have experience across multiple channel routes to market (2 Tier, Cloud Provider/MSP, etc.) * Be able to organize complex initiatives and make them work within a structured framework * Be able to drive change and be persistent * Pro-actively interact with different functional stakeholders up to senior executive leadership level * Able to work with and drive standardization across diverse cross-functional teams * Highly effective & efficient written and verbal executive communication skills * Detail-oriented while being able to see the 'big picture' * Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations * Be self-motivated as well as creative and efficient in proposing solutions to complex, time-critical problems Required Education & Experience: * 10+ years of experience for a technology (hardware or software) company or hands-on practitioner at a consulting firm * 3+ years of experience of managing complex channel initiatives a plus * Experience in designing/driving complex projects and processes at scale and improve sales productivity through all channel routes to market. * Strong communication, listening, presentation, and persuasion skills with an ability to represent new ideas and concepts to executives and other influential stakeholders and negotiate consensus effectively in a matrixed environment. * Undergraduate degree required; MBA preferred. * Experience with CPQ, SAP BRIM a plus Preferred Knowledge & Experience: * Worked with and understand customer & partner portals for SaaS and subscription * Enablement & change management * Six Sigma and/or PMP certification preferred Home Office - Anywhere in the United States This job requisition is not eligible for employment-based immigration sponsored by VMware.
