The Opportunity

RS&H is currently seeking a Director of Compensation to join our team.

Job Overview:

This position is responsible for advising and oversight of company compensation philosophy and programs, including base salary, incentive plans, and other rewards programs that drive the attraction and retention of critical talent while reflecting market conditions, internal equity, and an evolving pay-for-performance philosophy. This role requires a deep understanding of market trends, compensation analytics, and aligning compensation structures and packages with the company's goals and objectives. This includes overseeing the development and delivery of executive incentives programs, compensation cycles (merit/adjustments), rewards programs, job architecture, job descriptions, pay bands, as well as participation in and analysis of compensation surveys.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversees the planning, development, implementation, communication, and evaluation of all compensation processes, strategies, and programs, including job architecture evolution, merit planning and delivery, executive compensation, bonus programs, market alignment, and incentive programs.

  • Plays a key role in the development of compensation and other rewards programs to drive the attraction, retention, and motivation of key talent. Participates in the development of the company's compensation philosophy and guiding principles, as well as program policies, processes, and practices in conjunction with the total rewards strategy.

  • Assists and guides HR partners, executives, and leaders in the day-to-day administration of compensation programs and practices. Identifies knowledge opportunities, develops education and training materials, and facilitates and delivers training to leaders to increase knowledge and awareness around compensation programs and practices.

  • Participates in the annual merit and other compensation-related budgeting process and cost modeling. Provides data analysis and recommendations to support the design and costing of incentive pay plans. Leads annual merit and incentive planning activities' design, implementation, and maintenance. Assists and guides leaders throughout the annual planning process.

  • Oversees the job architecture governance and maintenance, as well as job descriptions and salary bands. Audits job and pay data information in the Human Capital Management (HCM) system.

  • Manages annual compensation surveys and other total rewards benchmark surveys. Analyzes and evaluates survey results and prepares a summary of data findings to support the annual compensation review process, including recommendations and decision-making efforts.

  • Interfaces with People Team colleagues and other key corporate stakeholders as related to compensation research or regular data sharing. Participates in cross-functional projects and initiatives as needed.

  • Serves as a leader on the People team, developing trusted partnerships within the team and throughout the organization, communicating needs, and ensuring that the voice of the business is represented, and that information is shared collaboratively. Manage and mentor compensation analysts or specialists.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Typically requires a minimum of 12 years' experience administering compensation programs and practices.

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Excel, as well as other Microsoft Office applications.

  • Requires a strong understanding of data reporting and analytics to analyze and evaluate data and identify patterns and trends, as well as formulate recommendations for senior leadership.

  • Requires strong attention to detail, commitment to follow through, and ability to work independently following general direction and oversight from leadership. Also requires the ability to multi-task, prioritize workload, set priorities, and manage multiple projects and assignments.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to and understand people in a courteous and professional manner. Must possess the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships, demonstrate professional courage, and guide and influence others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Compensation or Total Rewards professional certification.
