Director, Compensation ~ Retail and Direct Bank (RDB)
Here at Capital One we bring an analytically rigorous, data-driven approach to compensation. We are looking for an innovative Compensation Director to lead the compensation function for Capital One's Retail and Direct Bank (RDB).
We are looking for proven leadership candidates who are detailed, resulted-oriented and flexible with the ability to manage multiple initiatives in a demanding, fast-paced, Agile environment.
The role will partner with senior leaders and play an active role in formulating the on-going compensation strategy for the Retail and Direct Bank division. The successful candidate will be intellectually curious, have strong communication skills, and an ability to build strong partnerships across stakeholders, partners, and clients. This Director is expected to represent the Retail and Direct Bank point of view in firm wide initiatives.
Leads a team of Compensation professionals to ensure team has a thorough understanding of the business strategy as it relates to the compensation strategy
Strategic focus and planning for enhancements/ changes that align with company growth with a focus on cost effectiveness with the overall compensation strategies.
Review of all programs for the development of modification strategies and recommendations to ensure achievement of overall compensation and benefit goals.
Design, deliver, and manage compensation programs across all verticals within Retail and Direct Bank.
Serve as primary compensation point of contact to executives and internal partners within client groups
Manage all aspects of Line-of-Business (LOB) for designated client groups, with a strong emphasis on plan design, implementation, and administration. Responsibilities also include management and analysis of external market data and ensuring incentive plans meet strict internal and external governance/compliance standards
Partner with internal partners (e.g., HR Consultants, Finance, Accounting, Legal, Enterprise Risk) and client group on firm wide programs and/or processes (e.g., regulated staff classification, pay program changes), including conducting in-depth analyses and modeling in support of total compensation scenarios
Lead Compensation team through mid-year and year-end compensation cycles, ensuring smooth execution and managing within internal and external controls
Lead strategic compensation projects, key initiatives or processes horizontally across the Retail and Direct Bank (RDB) Compensation team, as assigned
Exhibit thought leadership across Retail and Direct Bank (RDB), the RDB Compensation team, as well as the Enterprise.
Apply Agile team practices and principles to deliver results and contribute to team effectiveness
Effectively guide activities and utilization of analyst resources
Bachelor's Degree or military experience
At least 7 years of experience in compensation or human resources
At least 7 years of experience in client facing or consulting roles
At least 5 years in a people leadership position
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or Human Resources
At least 7 years of effectively communicating compensation strategies at all levels including the C-Suite,
At least 10 years of experience in Compensation, Finance, or Human Resources consulting
At least 7 years of experience working in the Financial Services industry (Commercial or Retail Banking experience a plus)
At least 10 years of experience in client facing or consulting roles
Advanced excel skills (e.g., VBA, macros, array functions)
Experience innovating processes or programs
Proficient with Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint
Experience with bench-marking tools (MarketPay) or reporting tools (Tableau, Business Objects)
