Job Description

This position provides leadership for El Camino Health's Community Benefit and related community health commitments, which collectively comprise Community Partnerships. Community Benefit refers to the initiatives, activities, and investments undertaken by tax-exempt hospitals to improve health in the communities they serve. The Director of Community Partnerships is responsible for the planning, development and reporting of all the Community Benefit and related community health activities. Provides direction of Community Partnerships initiatives, oversees effective community health needs assessment, ensures transparent reporting to the State of California and compliance, and collaborates with other healthcare providers to impact critical health needs of the community. Identifies and develops population health initiatives which can improve community health. Stays current on best practice state and national Community Benefit, population health, social responsibility, and grant-making programs. This person has responsibility for the recruitment, supervision, management, support and quality assurance for Community Partnerships staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Directs, plans, implements, and evaluates a comprehensive Community Partnerships program.

  • Develops, maintains, and executes impactful and measurable annual Community Benefit plan and implementation strategies.

  • Holds primary responsibility for compliance and reporting required by federal and state statutes and regulations of Community Benefit programs.

  • Builds and maintains relationships with community leaders and agencies in the El Camino Healthcare District and the El Camino Health Los Gatos service area related to the El Camino Health Community Partnerships mission.

  • Successfully builds and establishes partnerships with community organizations for the shared development and management of community-based health care programming in order to improve the overall health of the community.

  • Maintains expertise on community and population health issues in the El Camino Healthcare District and the El Camino Health Los Gatos service area, and how they link to hospital services and hospital health improvement initiatives.

  • Serves as principal spokesperson for El Camino Health's Community Partnerships program.

  • Develops recommended strategic grants portfolio and program for committee and Board review and approval.

  • Ensures that all Community Partnerships programming is strategic, focused, and designed with metrics that define and measure achievement, all of which is reported to the El Camino Healthcare District Board and to the El Camino Hospital Finance Committee.

  • Monitors outcomes and return on investment related to all Community Partnerships funding.

  • Establishes and directs a formal, objective, and rigorous process for ongoing development of new community service programs.

  • Monitors trends and best practices related to hospital-based Community Benefit programming.

  • Serves on internal and external committees as requested and appropriate.

  • Communicates effectively with internal (senior management and employees) and external (community leaders, funding sources, individuals) audiences.

  • Identifies, cultivates and maintains relationships with key individuals to ensure appropriate community input for Community Partnerships programming.

  • Directs and manages the work of Community Partnerships staff.

Qualifications

  • Masters of Healthcare Administration, Masters of Business Administration, or other related degree required.

  • Eight (8) or more years of relevant experience managing programs, including budgets, financial plans, milestones, and metrics required.

  • Demonstrated experience and ability to develop and execute a comprehensive and strategic grants program.

  • Knowledge of hospitals, healthcare services, population health, or related experience preferred.

  • Excellent skills in quantitative and qualitative measurement in community-based and/or healthcare settings.

  • Demonstrated strong project management skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with multiple internal and external groups and manage work to meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills-articulate and concise; strong public speaking skills with the ability to influence, motivate, and inspire.

  • Political and business acumen; discretion, diplomacy and tact.

  • Requires periodic travel within the Bay Area.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).

$65.56 - $98.34 USD Hourly
