Job Description Summary
The Charleston Division Laboratory Director reports to the Executive Director of the Pathology & Laboratory Medicine ICCE. Under limited supervision, the Director is responsible for providing the day to day leadership and management of a defined group of clinical and support disciplines which includes:
Transfusion Service; HLA, Hematology; Cytogenetics; Chemistry; Laboratory Support Services; Microbiology; Diagnostic Immunology; Histology; Cytopathology; Autopsy Pathology; Client Services; Ashley River Tower OR Laboratory; Cryopreservation; Molecular Pathology; Special Chemistry & Toxicology, Reference and Send Outs; Flow Cytometry/Special Hematology; Point of Care Testing; North Area Specialty Clinical Blood Drawing Station and Laboratory. This role directs the delivery of services ensuring a seamless integration with service line initiatives, performance improvement measures, strategic, business, and organizational goals/objectives. The Director plays a vital role in the accreditation process and works closely with the Administrator to assure department compliance with established standards of performance. This position will also be responsible for the development and implementation of processes, procedures, and programs to increase operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Job Description
Minimum Training and Education: Five to seven (5-7) years' experience in hospital laboratory operations, of which at least three (3) years were in a management capacity.
Knowledge of management and leadership principles, budgeting methods and services related to area of responsibility required. Demonstrates knowledge and enforcement activities for the MUSC Hospital Compliance Program. Demonstrates knowledge of ADA regulations and working knowledge of CAP and CLIA certification standards.

Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS) or Medical Technology (MT)
