Nike Material Procurement experts ensure that every year 1 billion pieces of footwear, apparel and equipment are sourced to meet the needs of our consumers and internal business partners. That's no easy task.

The complex process involves more than 20,000 materials, a global network of hundreds of suppliers, and more than 500 manufacturing locations around the world. Nike Global Procurement professionals constantly push for ways to make Nike's manufacturing processes faster, more efficient, and more responsive to Nike's always-changing consumer needs.

We are looking for a Chemical & Packaging Materials Sourcing Director who will develop and lead global strategies to manage our global Footwear Chemical and Packaging Materials portfolios. This is a highly visible role allowing the opportunity to lead and inspire a team, while helping to define Nike's future in this space.

You will be a part of a global team located in key geographies reporting into the Global Sr. Director of Materials Procurement while interfacing closely with our Chemical Engineering and Product Creation teams globally. Working in Nike's Procurement business will be rewarding, it will be challenging, and it will most definitely not be just another job.

As our Chemicals and Packaging Sourcing Director, you will be responsible for leading the elevation of our strategic engagement with our Materials partners including:

  • Elevating External Partnership:

o Leadership - Sourcing leadership point for our key Chems and Packaging partners and the team that manages them;

o Strategy in partnership with WHQ materials sourcing teams, set the Chems and Packaging sourcing strategies, including Local-for-local where relevant;

o Materials Delivery and Performance inform the E2E lifecycle of key materials partners, including: onboarding, compliance, regular business reviews, vendor balanced scorecard, and performance issue resolution;

o Negotiations Lead regular negotiations in partnership with Vendor Organization teams to deliver price productivity, lead time reduction and capability elevation;

o Data Integrity Work with Nike initiative leaders (e.g. NCF, PCX) and manufacturing partners to ensure material data integrity (e.g. pricing accuracy);

  • Elevating Internal Partnerships with the following teams to ensure a seamless Nike offense:

o Manufacturing Partner offense to ensure that we are appropriately supporting our manufacturing strategy and engaging with our manufacturing partners through the new offense;

o Materials Planning to ensure that we can plan volumes and communicate to partners as appropriate

o Chemical Engineering and Packaging Operations teams to ensure that we have the appropriate materials specifications and to support our product creation offense

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years relevant work experience in Direct Procurement or Strategic Sourcing with a deep understanding of manufacturing processes

  • Superior communication and presentation skills, with excellent influencing and persuasive talents

  • Track-record of demonstrating an entrepreneurial spirit and demonstrated leadership

  • Ability to analyze data for capacity and usage information

  • Deep understanding of materials, footwear construction, and product creation process preferred

  • TCO approach to spend management (supply management, demand management, process management)

  • Familiarity with product overseeing and development approaches, including consumer insights and competitive product analysis

  • Experience working cross-culturally on global categories, with leadership, influencing and communication skills gained across a range of cultural environments

  • Excellent project ownership, including developing action plans, identifying deliverables, and presenting results

  • Ability to pass a background check

  • Must be willing to travel

  • MBA or advanced analytical degree is preferred
