Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams of design, quality, program management, supply chain and operations to develop prototype Li-S cell designs in multiple form factors (at least pouch and small cylindrical) for commercial application.

  • Guide the design / manufacturing concepts and specific requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques for Li-S battery manufacturing.

  • Be hands on and lead manufacturing engineering team to develop the process, manufacturing equipment, fixtures, tests, and suppliers to meet operational requirements at our internal manufacturing facility.

  • Solve problems and make data driven decisions, utilizing statistical processes like statistical process control (SPC) to monitor the manufacturing process.

  • Set goals for areas of improvement, construct a plan, and drive the evolution of the manufacturing process to achieve management targets using key process indicators.

  • Establish group objectives and individual work goals consistent with the overall product development goals.

  • Assess employee performance and provide coaching and feedback to improve performance.

  • Ensure manufacturing engineers follow appropriate design methodology and general guidelines, hold design reviews in accordance with product development goals.

  • Engage early in the design process to provide feedback to the design team as well as prepare for product manufacturing.

  • Support manufacturing operations as needed.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related engineering field

  • 11+ years of hands-on manufacturing engineering experience with 5+ years of people management.

  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex process development and ongoing support issues of a broad scope using independent judgement.

  • Excellent people skills with the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees.

  • Possess strong program management and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Battery R&D and Manufacturing in a commercial lithium-ion environment

  • 5+ years of experience with new technologies (non-conventional lithium-ion) in an R&D group or a battery start-up

  • Knowledge of Solid Works

  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

Physical Work Requirements:

  • Able to lift 25 lls and stand for many hours per day

Compensations Range:

The expected base salary range for this position is between

$170,700.00 - $256,100.00

The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise.

We generally do not negotiate on salary once we have made an offer. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise. New hires joining the company tend to be paid within the starting base pay range noted above, with opportunities to increase pay over time based on development of additional skills, competencies, and company-specific knowledge.

In addition to base pay this position is eligible for tier based bonus and equity, healthcare, dental, vision, corporate discounts, paid holidays, PTO and sick time, 401K, employee relocation plan (if applicable)
