General Summary:

The primary responsibility of this position is to lead and advance our Category Leadership with Kroger to drive growth and improved performance for both Campbell Meals and Beverage & Kroger. This role will Lead customer penetration and development across multiple functions within the customer, customer retailer insights and support, category development and diagnostics. Contributes to annual sales planning and customer category leadership plan development. Primary liaison back to HQ Category Leadership team. Accountable for overall customer Category Management function and activities. The role is also responsible to lead the goal setting and development of direct report (s) to continue to elevate the skills and talent of the team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Translate and synthesize consumer and shopper insights into national strategic category growth drivers and initiatives (Stratum/8451)

  • Identify key customer opportunities which inform JBPs and strategic planning

  • Develop Category Leadership Plan and roadmap based on insights and opportunities

  • Lead development and deployment of national stories into customizable category leadership plans for omni channel

  • Translate Category Strategy into custom retailer category stories and growth initiatives

  • Identify and activate against key retailer opportunities which inform JBPs

  • Influence retailer and activations through category strategies account specific Insights

  • Lead and develop Category leadership team

  • Identify growth opportunities for direct report (s) team memebers

  • Provide feedback and direction

  • Ensure close connection with field sales and Strategy teams and priorities

  • Ensure close connection with Insights team and influence priorities and budgets

  • Develop and deploy Category Leadership best practices

  • Keep an eye towards future of Category trends, systems and best practices

Job Complexity:

  • The Category Leadership Director will work to support our largest grocery account (Kroger) and will be responsible for building and executing custom category and shopper strategies that will drive growth for both Campbell's and Kroger

  • Works cross-functional with our HQ Internal sales and marketing function

  • This role will require strong leadership and influencing skills, professionalism, executive presence and prioritization skills

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree required

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in CPG industry (Kroger experience preferred)

  • Minimum 5 years of Shopper Insights or Category Management experience

  • Prior experience managing direct report (s) with a proven track record of inspiring a team to execute plans is required

  • Leadership/Executive presence - leads through resonant engagement demonstrating mindfulness, hope and compassion to build an inclusive environment

  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail

Working Conditions:

  • This position works out of the Cincinnati Sales Office in Ohio

  • Collaborative relationships and sales team is vital to the success of this role

  • Approximately 30% travel is required to the customer & team meetings

  • This role reports directly into the Campbell Meals and Beverage Category VP and Shopper Strategy
