The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW), an association of eight YMCAs serving Chester County, is a non-profit organization committed to nurturing the potential of every child, promoting healthy living and fostering social responsibility through life-changing programs for all.
Under the direction of the Association Sr. Director of SACC, this position directs all facets of Day Camp operations including staff scheduling, training and supervision. They will also direct SACC assuming the key leadership role, including administrative, programmatic, and delivery of programs in accordance with YMCA program quality standards during the school year, ensuring proper staffing, and scheduling within the Oxford and Avon Grove School District.
Responsible for hiring, scheduling, training, supervising and developing camp and before and after school staff.
Ensure that DHS licensing requirements are meet at all SACC sites.
Develop a training and development plan for staff to ensure a high quality and safe environment is created for youth to grow and develop
Conduct staff meetings to ensure staff is delivering a quality and educational program
Coordinate with external vendors to deliver quality experiences for youth at both camp and SACC sites
Work effectively with school administration to deliver before and after school care within the Oxford and Avon Grove school district elementary schools
Coordinate, develop, and implement plans for themes, lessons, and age appropriate activities for camp that reflect the philosophy of the YMCA of Greater Brandywine.
Actively participate in or lead association experience teams for both SACC and Camp.
Provide direction and communication feedback to counselors regarding related issues as well as administrative issues and decisions.
Develop and maintain good working relationships with the directors, staff, parents and families by way of open communication, positive problem solving, flexibility, and teamwork.
Ensure that program meets budget expectations by driving participant growth and managing expenses including both payroll and supply costs.
Clearly and consistently communicate with families on program experience
Must be able to effectively communicate challenging situations to parents such as behavioral issues, suspensions, etc..
Lead with enthusiasm and positive motivation in program.
Organize and maintain program schedules and records, i.e., attendance records, league or program rosters, progress reports, etc.
Maintain a clean and risk-free environment and correct within prescribed emergency response procedures. Escalate safety/risk concerns with appropriate urgency.
Communicate effectively and timely with program participants and parents and school leadership
Work with branch leadership in a collaborative manner to ensure that a strong program is delivered to the community in which we serve
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, or the Human Services field OR A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, or the Human Services field and one year experience with children
Minimum 2 years of YMCA experience with youth programs or similar organization
Must keep an up to date DHS file with a current physical
Basic computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office products
Knowledge of database software preferred
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
Good judgment and ability to problem solve
Ability to effectively use technology for programmatic needs
Ability to relate well with staff and general public
Attend all required pre-camp and camp season trainings and meetings as scheduled
Obtain and maintain all new hires certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire
