Position Summary

The Business Unit Operations Director is responsible for the management of the Business Unit office. Oversees, manages and communicates a variety of wholesaler, retailer, and corporate information and services, as well as, analysis and administrative, duties while assisting the Business Unit and the BU sales leadership team of General Managers and Directors with the execution of their duties and responsibilities. Manages other members of the BU Operations team in support of BU activities. Position will support the Southeast Business Unit for the Constellation Brands Beer Division.

Responsibilities

  • Functions as the liaison between the Business Unit and Constellation's Corporate Departments i.e., Supply Chain, On and Off Premise National Accounts, On and Off premise Key Accounts, Marketing Field Marketing Director, Corporate Planning, Business Development and Human Resources. Functions as the primary point of contact to the Division BU Wholesaler Network in conveying the BU's objectives, strategies, programs and promotions.

  • Manages the gathering of information for the monthly Business Unit Results Call.

  • Manages the BU Monthly sales forecast process. Reviews wholesaler generated forecasts using VIP data, trend analysis, price promotion history and any other criteria impacting forecasting accuracy and submits modifications to Demand Planning for review by Supply Chain and Senior Management.

  • Manages the administration allocation, development, execution and program recap for all sales tactical resources including of the Constellation Tactical Funds, Local Marketing Funds (with BU Field Marketing Director and BU VP) and the BU Selling Expense Budgets (actual vs. plan) and wholesaler tactical commitments and provides updates to the BU VP on a monthly basis as requested.

  • Manages the BU Analyst and Sales Coordinator positions. Assigns projects, oversees daily output, directs training and manages objectives for both positions. Responsible for their annual performance evaluations, training/coaching and career development.

  • Participates in the fiscal year planning process including the annual BU operating budgets, sales forecasts (Plan), capital expenditures and the BU headcount.

  • Participates in the development, tracking and communication of BU funded Brand programs to include Premier, Major and foundational programs in the sales priority calendar incentives to the wholesaler network, field sales, Key Account Teams, and National Account teams. Tracks and communicates progress against all sales objectives including volume, distribution and space. volume goals. Upon completion of the program, submits a final evaluation to determine if it was an effective ROI use of sales tactical resource Constellation Tactical Funds.

  • Support the process of building and maintaining the Business Unit price promotion calendar with the BU Finance/Pricing Manager.

  • Engages in field activity in the large DMA's in each BU to better understand the market dynamics, trade channels, consumer segments with key customers. Ensure alignment and integration of BU overall sales strategy to retail execution.

Other Duties

  • Assists the BU VP and GM's with the Wholesaler Change and Transition Process. Responsible for the completion and submission of the forms and paperwork associated with this process.

  • Participates in the management of the Annual Business Plan process in the gathering and tracking of wholesaler sales, on and off premise distribution and wholesaler spend commitment data. Participates in wholesaler trimester reviews.

  • Provides support to the field sales team in the preparation of presentations to the BU VP's, GM's, Constellation corporate management as well as presentations for wholesaler and meetings.

  • Manages and oversees the distribution of web based sales data and information on a monthly basis to Wholesalers and Field Sales personnel in an actionable and useable format.

  • Assists the BU VP with the preparation of special reports and/or projects as requested.

  • Assists the BU VP and Field Sales Organization in the analysis of wholesaler inventories vs. sales forecasts. Working with the Supply Chain department, identifies wholesaler brand and package concerns and submits these issues to the BU VP and Field Sales Organization for follow up with wholesalers.

  • Participates in the planning of BU staff and wholesaler meetings. Works with the BU Sales coordinator to ensure all meeting elements are executed in a professional manner. Coordinates and participates in division special events, incentives and training, including "new hire" orientation.

  • Represents the BU VP and GM's at various field meetings, presentations and events as requested.

  • Lead in the education and coordination of the Constellation Retail Vision standards at retail and the RSS survey process.

  • Manages and develops other BU Operations employees to include Sales Coordinators, Analysts, or Analysis Managers.

Complete other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • A minimum of five years experience in the Malt Beverage industry is preferred with experience in people/team management, sales operations management, budget management and data analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent communication (written and oral), organizational, interpersonal and management skills.

  • Ability to interact with all levels of Constellation and wholesaler management.

  • Proven experience managing and developing others.

  • Demonstrated ability to be assertive, decisive, detail-oriented, deadline-oriented and analytical self-starter.

  • Ability to work under pressure, to effectively prioritize assignments, and to take initiative and follow through with minimal supervision.

  • Computer literacy with the ability to skillfully use software applications including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel and e-mail programs.

  • Ability to utilize business information reporting tools.

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

The salary range for this role is:

$119,100.00 - $190,300.00

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future.
