Purpose of Role

The Director of Business Systems Salesforce is responsible for managing Salesforce, Marketing, Cloud technologies, Web and Content management. This role will drive all aspects of engaging with our business partners including understanding business needs, application architecture, development, testing, and integration across multiple cross-functional platforms. Will support the implementation of various product features, planning, design, maintenance, and support of business applications.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Salesforce and Marketing Technology Leadership:

  • Directs the strategic implementation and management of Salesforce solutions directed towards leading successful marketing campaigns, creating dashboards that provide customer insights. This is all done with a mindset to grow the business while staying in tune with the GIA values and culture. Establishes business targets and demonstrates with a metrics-based approach that articulates how the results align with business expectations and solutions meet and exceed their needs. Hold QBR's to show the alignment and improvements made.

  • Collaborates with marketing teams to integrate IT solutions that enhance marketing effectiveness. You would be looking for ways to provide a cohesive view of our data to ensure customer and product data integrity across multiple systems. Use data to develop reports, analyze internal campaign results, update internal, employee-facing information, and inform / course correct plans. Leverage the latest CRM analytics dashboards and BI to demonstrate data integrity across systems.

High Tech Environment Expertise:

  • Leverages experience working in high-tech companies to drive innovative IT solutions. Given that technology is constantly evolving, you will find ways to rationalize our application landscape. Generate quarterly reports showing how the innovation helped the business grow.

  • Oversees web content management and intranet development initiatives. While we have multiple competing technologies in-house, you will find ways to unify on one platform and enhance the offerings.

Technical Architecture and Cloud Expertise:

  • Serves as a technical architect, ensuring the alignment of IT infrastructure with business goals. This position requires striking the right balance between technology and business requirements.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in AWS and cloud technologies to drive scalability and efficiency given that GIA operates with a Cloud first mindset. We are driven by speed to business capabilities approach.

Identity and Access Management:

  • Manages Single Sign-On solutions to enhance security and streamline user access across platforms. We have multiple Marketing and Education applications on both the web and mobile platforms.

  • Leads data migration initiatives, ensuring seamless transitions and minimal disruptions. Utilizes expertise in Data Lakes and Business Intelligence to drive data-driven decision-making.

Who You Are

Technical

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree preferred.

  • 10-12+ years of progressive experience in IT leadership roles, with a focus on high-tech environments preferred.

  • 3+ years of experience managing staff.

  • Proven expertise in Salesforce, Marketing technologies, web content management, and intranet development.

  • Strong background in SharePoint, Single Sign-On, and technical architecture.

  • Experience with AWS and cloud certifications is highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated experience in data migration, Data Lakes, and Business Intelligence.

  • Hands-on knowledge of the Sales and Marketing business and technology processes and systems like Salesforce, and Marketo. Does not hesitate to roll up the sleeves and fix technology problems.

  • Good knowledge of AI tools and capabilities available in the Sales and marketing domain.

  • Experienced in DevOps, Agile, and Scrum methodologies

  • Ability to step up and assist with IT Governance and System audits. Ability to implement automated tools to drive automated self-audits.

  • Deep knowledge of the Salesforce ecosystem including Salescloud, Data Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Einstein etc. Expert at adopting the new releases from Salesforce and incorporating them into our deliverables to give the business a competitive advantage

  • Manage the data integration needs with applications like Marketo, Jenzabar, Blackboard

  • Ability to work with partners to migrate data between platforms like Marketo and Sales Marketing Cloud when needed

  • Identify opportunities to provide analytics solutions via CRM Analytics or Snowflake and Power BI

  • Strong knowledge of the Enterprise Content management platforms to help our partners in the Alumni, Lab, and Education. Usage of tools like Adobe CMS, Autonomy, SharePoint etc.

  • Leverage advanced tools like Enquira or Idol Search, Language translation for our sites, Analytics of our site usage, Global SMS or email capabilities via Salesforce or other tools.

  • Ability to clean up data within Salesforce and drive towards master data management.

  • Data driven with the ability to analyze data, understand trends and develop recommendations for action through a personal initiative for problem-solving.

  • Able to derive solutions for complex, multidimensional issues using strong reasoning and conceptual thinking abilities.

  • Makes sound decisions, at times using limited data, but using a clear decision framework.

Relational

  • Reports to the Director, Enterprise Applications

  • Supervises a team that includes developers and business managers.

  • Works collaboratively and builds strong working relationships across a diverse, and global workforce. Will work with the Market Development, Marketing, Alumni, Laboratory, HR, Finance, and various cross-functional IT and InfoSec teams.

  • Proven success in motivating and leading cross-functional project teams to complete objectives

  • Under adverse circumstances continues to uphold GIA principles and strives to build strong relations with all IT teams

  • Models GIA values

Industry and Business Acumen

Communication Skills

  • Excellent command of the English language (spoken and written)

  • Impeccable communication skills, written, verbal, and formal presentations

  • Strong leadership presence. Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, including the ability to articulate and rally teams around a vision

  • Constantly evaluating new technology solutions, engaging with vendors and partners to find leading-edge solutions to be implemented

Location Requirements

  • Some travel outside of Carlsbad, CA may be necessary to support teams in New York, New Jersey, and other locations as relevant

Pay Range: $157-219K
