Staples, the business supplies retailer, is looking for a program leader to oversee its business resilience program, which includes business continuity, IT disaster recovery, and crisis management. The ideal candidate has experience in developing and implementing resilience programs in large, complex organizations.

The Crisis Management, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery program lies within the Cyber Security department, with broad responsibilities to support the traditional elements of an enterprise resiliency program across a large enterprise. This role allows for flexibility of schedule during steady state and requires extra work during crisis activations.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and oversee the Staples Business Continuity Program, including the annual lifecycle of risk assessment, business impact analyses (BIAs), business continuity planning, and business continuity exercises.

  • Define and oversee the Staples Disaster Recovery Program, including the annual lifecycle of disaster recovery planning, governing disaster recovery tests, and collaborating across technology teams to align business requirements for technology recovery time objectives and recovery point objectives.

  • Define and oversee the Staples Crisis Management Program, including creation and maintenance of crisis management plans, leading crisis activations and meetings of the Crisis Management Team, and briefing the senior leadership team in a crisis. Oversee the crisis exercise strategy for the organization.

  • Leads governance processes for the overall resilience program, including business continuity, disaster recovery, and crisis management.

  • Coordination: Builds relationships across the organization, especially with executives, business leaders, and stakeholders of critical functions within the organization. Builds internal and external relationships with key partners, across business units, and public sector agencies.

  • Preparedness: Help business units prepare annually for crises, including problem-solving and connecting across the organization.

  • Customer Inquiries: participate in team responses to crisis related customer inquiries.

  • Establish and maintain public and private industry contacts to assist in matters of crisis as needed.

  • Work closely with the Enterprise Security Operations Center Manager to manage large scale events requiring ESOC support.

Qualifications:

  • At least 8-10 years of business continuity and/or crisis management experience in large, complex organizations.

  • Self-starter who can work independently and prioritize work according to priority, with light oversight and after training

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a deeply collaborative approach

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience

  • Problem solver - a knack for seeing problems others don't, and pulling together the right team to fix them

  • Professional Certification in Business Continuity and/or Crisis Management preferred

. Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) preferred

. Crisis Management/Emergency Management preferred

. Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) preferred

  • Corporate experience strongly preferred

Flexible schedule and location:

Given the coordination required to manager large scale events and exercises this position will be ideally based out of Framingham MA and follow the company approved hybrid model. However, during certain events, it is possible this position will be required to come to the office for extended periods of time, including off hours (nights/weekends).
