Director, Business Operations - University Information Systems

The Director of Business Operations assists the UIS Senior Leadership team in the operations and strategic planning of the UIS Department and directs the budget planning, fiscal and resource planning/administration, policy administration, and coordination and negotiation of activities with other University departments and administration. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Serves as the senior advisor to the UIS Senior leadership team on all matters of the UIS budget to include acquisition strategy, year-to-year budget formulation strategies (CAPEX and OPEX), budget execution/reporting, reinvestment strategy, and tracking of progress of high priority projects.

  • Assists the UIS Senior Leadership Team in the operations and strategic planning of the UIS Department and directs the budget planning, fiscal and resource planning/administration, policy administration, and coordination and negotiation of activities with other University departments and administration.

  • Collaborates with other information services staff and other departments in in making investment decision that align with our mission, funding, and acquisition strategy.

  • Oversees and directs business process reviews, including resource allocation and cost analysis.

  • Provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance.

  • Works with UIS Senior leadership to identify, develop and implement operational business plans, monitor and track key metrics, and assist in the decision making of the department.

  • Participates in departmental strategic planning, ensuring that the developed goals align with the University's goals as well as identifies and seizes opportunities to improve fiscal and operational performance of the department.

  • Supervises two Business Officers; provides support in managing fiscal close for University Information Services.

  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned or directed.

Requirements

  • Possess a bachelor's degree or higher with a major in computer science, information technology, business or public administration, or related disciplines.

  • Minimum 5-7 years of progressive responsible work experience including solid theoretical and practical knowledge of managing administrative operations with a focus on budgets and staffing.

  • Superior communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong project/personnel management interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of the principles, practices and processes involved in strategic planning and in implementing a strategic plan, in order to lead and guide staff in creating short- and long-term plans.

  • In-depth knowledge and experience in designing and implementing organization-wide policies and strategies.

  • 5-7 years of experience in general management as it relates to Administrative Services, Finance, Budget, and Accounting.

  • Skill in solving problems, making decisions and working under pressure.

  • Aptitude for interpersonal communications and negotiations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree preferred.

  • Experience in the following desired: strategic planning, budget formulation, health care, higher education, government, or related industry; information systems management.

The ideal candidate will possess an excellent sales and sales management track record with a strong desire to succeed. The candidate must have demonstrated the ability to successfully train, develop and coach sales representatives in achieving sales results. The RBD will also work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, market access and commercial operations to develop and utilize appropriate data and resources designed to maximize sales efficiency and effectiveness. The RBD will work in close collaboration with the VP of Hospital Sales, peers, field and internal matrix stakeholders to drive market penetration of Recro's products, optimize customer satisfaction and build team engagement. The RBD will develop and implement launch plans that outline how selling/marketing strategy and sales goals will be achieved including allocation of budget and promotional resources, that align to customer opportunities. Additionally, this individual will meet with key decision makers, KOLs and C-Suite to foster cohesive partnerships between hospitals/health systems and Recro. The ideal candidate will consistently operate with integrity and possess subject matter expertise in both the pain market and hospital/health systems setting including knowledge of analgesic market dynamics, hospital/health system infrastructure, formulary review process, buying channels, and contracting. The RBD must be energetic, collaborative, inspiring and have the ability to skillfully translate bigger picture vision and strategy into tangible direction and actions to achieve outstanding business and organizational results. IV Meloxicam is the first once a day IV NSAID. This position will contribute to the future sales growth of a strong pipeline of new products that are expected to follow. About the Organization: Recro Pharma, Inc. is a revenue generating specialty pharmaceutical company developing non-opioid therapeutics for the treatment of pain, initially for acute post operative pain. Recro Pharma has two product candidates in mid to late stage clinical trials for the management of acute post operative pain. IV/IM meloxicam, a proprietary, long-acting preferential COX-2 inhibitor has successfully completed multiple Phase II clinical trials and is ready to begin pivotal Phase III clinical trials. We believe IV/IM meloxicam compares favorably to competitive therapies in magnitude of pain relief, onset of pain relief, duration of pain relief and time to peak analgesic effect. Dex-IN, a proprietary intranasal formulation of dexmedetomidine, is currently being tested in Phase II clinical trials. Dexmedetomidine, or Dex, is a selective alpha-2 adrenergic agonist that has demonstrated sedative, analgesic and anxiolytic properties. If approved, Dex-IN would also be the first and only approved acute post operative pain drug in its class of drugs. Recro Pharma owns and operates an 87,000 square foot, DEA-licensed facility that manufactures five commercial products which are commercialized by partners, and receives royalties associated with the sales of these products.
