POSITION SUMMARY:

The Dir, Business Manager Workplace Strategy & Execution sits within TIAA's Corporate Services team reporting to the Head of Workplace Strategy & Execution. The Workplace Strategy Program is an integral initiative, accountable for transforming the future of how we work at TIAA. The Business Manager will leverage transformation expertise and program management acumen, partnering cross-functionally to ensure firm-wide objectives are met.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Develop and implement end-to-end program templates and plans for key office locations in support of TIAA's Workplace Strategy

  • Work with workstream leads to define milestones, build detailed project plans, and regularly update status documentation

  • Manage program routines, reporting, and escalation procedures

  • Partner effectively across key stakeholders and senior leadership to ensure alignment and smooth execution of program deliverables

  • Actively manages program plans, resolving risks and issues in a timely manner

QUALIFICATIONS :

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 8+ years of project management experience managing enterprise-wide projects and/or office redesign experience

Preferred:

  • Experience in location strategy and/or real estate initiatives

  • Experience delivering enterprise- wide initiatives

  • Ability to travel to other locations as needed

  • 8+ years of experience within the Financial Services industry

  • Knowledge of and effective relationships with TIAA's executive leadership team

  • Established internal network enabling access to leadership and speed to decision making

  • Ability to influence others

  • Demonstrated experience with defining program/project scope, approach, timelines and deliverables.

  • Ability to align stakeholders with different objectives to meet common goals

  • Proven leadership abilities including ability to share knowledge, resolve conflicts, and create consensus

  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze data, as well as position for effective decision making by cross-functional senior leadership teams

  • Self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven ability to support teams of a wide variety of disciplines and backgrounds to achieve results

  • Accountable for the delivery of outcomes, strives to meet and exceed program expectations

  • Ability to plan and organize self and work in order to achieve objectives and targets

  • Attention to detail and sound judgement to elevate risks/issues to keep program on-track

  • Demonstrates a proactive and flexible approach to change, is able to work effectively in a variety of situations, and seeks improvement to current systems

The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk. The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company. Corporate Risk (CR) Control Executive (CRCE) team provides Operational Risk support for Corporate Risk group business teams. The team needs strong, risk focused, business process leaders, practitioners that can help to create and maintain ongoing risk planning, execution as well as any additional risk based activities as required. This position is part of the Corporate Risk Control Governance team. This team's role is to be the Risk Program SME, Consultant, to define, document what we do, how we do it to stay in compliance with associated risk programs. We provide training documentation, tools, and templates, provide support for partner risk teams and execution facilitation (as required) to support the CR business teams meet their risk objectives. Business as Usual (BAU) includes incorporating any changes (ex. new policy requirements) and continuous improvement, efficiency opportunities from internal, external sources. The candidate will need to be strategic, tactical and be willing to support, perform day to day frontline risk activities. Today this team manages 4 key programs, BPM / RCSA / SAA / ORE, for project driven and BAU requirements. This position will be aligned to the Integration work effort within the Corporate Risk Governance team. This team is responsible for supporting integration efforts within the Governance team for responsible ERPs, CRCE broader team and outside of the CRCE team. This role will also occasionally backfill in day to day execution roles as required across all functional teams working directly for the Business Risk Control Senior Manager. Key Responsibilities include: * Working with and support Senior Integration leads on a variety of initiatives within the CRCE Governance team * Execution Support (BPM Project BPM-RCSA-SAA) * Support the designated functional leads, coordination resources on Integration activities within the CRCE team such as key documentation develop and maintenance including engagement models and playbooks * Support development of working templates for the teams that aligns with policies and procedures partnering with coordinating execution resources * Support continuous improvement efforts and ongoing training for current and future resources stateside and EGS / Support process flow, handoffs, within EGS team * Provide training on the BPM, RCSA methodology to lines of business and internal risk teams including coaching and guidance on use of the common process taxonomy. May also include contractors, consultants and EGS resources * Engage directly with other CRCE teams, IRM as required to develop engagement models, procedures, process flows, RACI charts * Reporting and Metrics: support the development of BPM metrics dashboards (Project Driven) and subsequent risk reporting evolution including risk metrics dashboards, multiple views of risk to support, enable, long term, risk based decision making * Development of BAU reporting to allow CRCE team and Corporate Risk LOBs coordinated reporting for staffing decision, coordination for required work * Training, Mentoring - train and support stateside, EGS and other resources as required for BAU * Backup resource for day to day Operation Risk Event (ORE) work Other Responsibilities: * Working with the BPM lead to ensure all BPM within Corporate Risk are operating efficiently, effectively with a high degree of quality for BPM data collected and driving this into cohesive reporting * Review overall data quality, driving continuous improvement, lessons learned, and feedback loops within the BPM execution team ensure BPM success criteria is met * May lead process risk, control, SAA development within the BPM sprint construct, by facilitating working sessions with business process owners and SMEs for business processes * May perform RCSA evaluations or SAA assessment as directed Preferred locations are Charlotte, NC or Dallas, TX - may consider highly qualified from applicants outside of this location.
