The Visa Global Business Solutions (VGBS) team has overall responsibility for all aspects of business strategy, development and management of B2B solutions, as well as platform development and commercial information management. VGBS serves clients engaged in providing payment products to small business, middle market and large corporate/multinational companies, governments and commercial supply chain/B2B segments.

Position Summary

Visa's Strategic Partnerships organization is responsible for managing Visa's overall innovation agenda and initiatives and the management of strategic partnerships with critical non-financial institutions.

The Director will work with key partners, both as key global merchants and strategic digital enablement technology partners.

Essential Functions

The Director, Business Development, is responsible for identifying and implementing partnership opportunities for large and complex partnerships. The role requires an experienced sales and business development professional who can identify potential deals, develop the tactics and manage the teams needed to bring them to fruition. The Strategic Partnerships team works closely with Visa's Core Product and Digital Solutions as well as other stakeholders such as Legal, Processing, Cybersource, Risk, Finance, Marketing, etc. teams to execute partnership agreements and deliverables that are typically highly complex, strategic and cross-functional in nature.

Specific responsibilities include:

Segment Expertise

Support the Strategic Partnerships and Innovation executive team in developing the overall group strategy, specifically for Digital Commerce and Payment Enablers

Identify strategic opportunities for Visa capabilities through a strong understanding of the segment and customer's business needs, leveraging Visa solutions across all product platforms.

Continuously review market landscape, identifying developing partnership or acquisition opportunities that will position Visa as the market leader

Account Management:

Develop and execute customized account strategy, objectives and plans to increase revenue and market share for select strategic partner accounts

Assist in leading the account and relationship management and sales plan for these accounts, ensuring that the client's business objectives are met

Working with the innovation team: recommend, develop, and implement new and creative approaches to grow client's business

Align the cross-functional teams on key proposals including representation from Marketing, Product, Operations, Market Research and Technology.

Assist in leading the development, negotiation and signing of proposals by working with various internal stakeholders and relationships with strategic partner executives

Execution

Work with cross functional teams to ensure partner implementations are on track and delivering against plan

Assist in addressing and solving problems that arise during the execution of programs with partners

Proactively identify and solve complex problems that impact the management, relationship and direction of the business

Communication

Report to and interact with senior management and executives to indicate the status of the partnership progress Foster in-depth and productive relationships at all levels with the client and the Visa organization

Proactively educate the Visa organization on market developments and partner opportunities

Basic Qualifications:

Minimum of Bachelor's degree or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of 12-15 years business experience with related sales and management experience in the mobile, software, hardware or technology services industry

Corporate strategy, financial services or payments industry experience preferred

Demonstrated track record of planning, managing and closing a complex, competitive sales effort and managing deals from negotiation, to closing and through delivery

Proven record of implementing strategic initiatives, policies and operational decisions

Corporate strategy, financial services or payments industry experience preferred

Strategic thinking and thought leadership

Teamwork, interpersonal & relationship-building skills, and ability to lead by influence and example

Proven ability to partner, communicate and manage/navigate through multiple disciplines and organizational groups

Experience "managing up", building Executive Level communications and delivering presentations

Ability to work within a complex and often ambiguous environment, and to influence senior management and other relevant parties

Executive presence; Strong written and oral communication, including large-group presentations

Global experience (ex. Asia) preferred

Team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic and flexible

Essential Functions

  • Evidence of strong client engagement skills and the ability to creatively provide solutions and recommendations across Visa products to help grow the partnership accounts

  • Strategically drive thought leadership to propel the partner forward and add value to their business model and engagement with Visa

  • Manages and supports partner engagement strategies and account plans with key focus on driving growth and market expansion

  • Reconciles account plans with actual financial performance on a monthly basis and prepares regular management reports on results

  • Builds and maintains strong and timely dashboards to contribute to the analysis of performance on key metrics to identify areas of focus/opportunity/growth and profitability

  • Applies analytics to business problems, interpreting and distributing results

  • Contributes to maintain a robust control environment in terms of data protection, quality standards, compliance with benchmarking and disclosure rules

Physical Requirements

This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Collaborate with internal cross-functional stakeholders to support the development and implementation of Rigel's business development strategy. * Support evaluation and management of new strategic business opportunities, initiatives, and partnerships for projects that meet the Company's scientific, business, and partnership objectives. * Lead scientific/commercial due diligence of preclinical, clinical and commercial stage assets both for in-licensing and out-licensing opportunities. * Lead the develop of comprehensive due diligence reports to include full assessments (scientific evaluation, regulatory, CMC, manufacturing, clinical development, financial, reimbursement issues, competitive landscape) of external opportunities with go or no-go recommendations. * Support or lead the develop of proposals, presentations and term sheets for business prospects, contribute meaningfully to contract negotiations and facilitate the daily aspects of transactional closings with appropriate internal departments. * Develop product forecasts, financial models and support all necessary analytics for potential licensing transactions and internal product portfolio decisions. * Maintain competitive intelligence analytic tools and databases in support of the Company's business transactions. Regularly share current information and assessment of new market trends and opportunities with the Senior Management Team. * Organize, track, document and report on a regular basis on the status of all prospects in the business development pipeline. * Analyze potential of new product opportunities within Rigel's pipeline including medical needs assessment, competitive dynamics, timelines and expenses, and sales potential. * Manage the development portfolio and support the optimization of the portfolio and portfolio strategy by conducting analysis on prioritized indications. * Represent and promote the Company externally through networking with industry leaders and decision makers, as well as participating in industry conferences. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: * Bachelor's degree ideally in life-sciences required; MBA or PhD preferred. * Strong domain, scientific/technical expertise in the heme-oncology and immunology therapeutic area preferred. * At least 12 years of biotech or biopharma experience with a business, finance or related focus. * In-depth understanding of the drug development process, small molecules, biologics, and other platforms in heme-oncology/immunology is required. * Strong business development, project management, alliance management skills with a successful proven track record is required. * Basic understanding of financial accounting and valuation. Strong analytical, forecasting and financial modeling capability is a plus. * Strong Powerpoint and Excel skills required. * Strong communication skills, written and verbal, and ability to effectively communicate the science cross functionally, to management and with partners. * Strong interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary setting, foster and nurture teamwork, and act as a facilitator to drive fulfillment of corporate strategic goals. * A well-developed business acumen. * Willingness to travel up to 25% to academic, industry, client and/or partner sites. * Comfortable with a fast paced, dynamic, and evolving working environment. * A combination of a solid background/education in business and science with an aptitude to quickly understand new science and technologies.
