Ingredion has a newly created opportunity for a Director, Business Development,Sustainability Packaging & BioSolutions.

The Business Development Director will define, develop and grow business opportunities related to ustainable Packaging & BioSolutions (Bioplastics, Biochemicals and Fermentation) . The Business Development Director will be a key member of the Global Core Leadership team and will focus on creating and implementing a strategy in these two key focus areas. They will coordinate cross-functional teams (Technical Service, Marketing and Sales) to develop those new business and to negotiate supply agreements with customers and production partners to maximize our profitability.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Design, create, and implement a strategy for Sustainable Packaging & Bio Solutions in coordination with regional teams.

  • Work with regional go to market teams maintaining and growing the existing BioSolutions and Sustainable Packaging revenue and profitability. Help increase speed to market on new products introductions driven by customer preferred innovation.

  • Generate new business by developing new sales & Business Development opportunities and convert opportunities into revenue. Work with regions to grow the opportunity pipeline in the territory to ensure a reliable stream of future new business. Prospecting to find new potential customers.

  • Prospect, engage and build up business cases with potential co-location partners.

  • Support Procurement team on the negotiation of long-term agreements with co-location partners.

  • Support regions in the negotiation of pricing and contracts with customers and managing the development, accuracy, and delivery of those contracts.

  • Build deep relationships with R&D Formulators, Quality, Marketing, and Procurement to increase our ingredient sales and meet volume, revenue, profit targets and specialty product growth.

  • Gain a deep understanding of Sustainability Packaging and BioSolutions market needs and trends, helping to build organization's competitive intelligence and identifying new products fitting the Industrial strategy.

  • Perform administrative tasks such as budgeting, forecasting, call reports, monthly reports, price letters and expense reports. Update the CRM (Salesforce.com) system with potential customer leads, activity, managing the opportunity pipeline, entering market intelligence.

  • Direct company resources to support sales efforts and promote customer satisfaction.

  • Provide solutions that create value for customers and use knowledge of business and market to execute goals.

  • Identify and sell to key decision makers within the organizations of potential customers as well as internally at Ingredion.

  • Exhibit a high degree of initiative and work well with others.

  • Think creatively and explore multiple possibilities for overcoming challenges.

  • Use data and facts in problem-solving and to build commitment from others through influence.

  • Develop a plan to establish and maintain account relationships and meet personal sales targets.

  • Build a business plan for the Bio Solutions business.

  • Coordinate use of resource to provide value added to accounts.

  • Develop strong client relationships that provide significant input to planning product, price and service strategies.

  • Support regional sales teams in developing new market opportunities in the designated territory or market for BioSolutions.

  • Lead the development of capital project scope, schedule, and budget while following project management deliverables and best practices.

  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.

  • Major contact point and person to be consulted in all topics related to BioSolutions and Sustainable Package globally

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (engineering, biology, chemistry). MBA preferred.

  • Minimum 10 years B2B experience in an Industrial BioSolutions or Packaging related field.

  • Team player with an ability to lead cross-functional team activities and deliver results.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and curiosity of product technical features.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and leverage strong relationships to generate sales & profitability.

  • Proven record of growing revenue and managing financial dealings with customers.

  • Proven negotiation skills and strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Proven ability to navigate cross-functional organization and on different levels with influence.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully coordinate many complex activities and projects simultaneously.

  • Developed presentation skills along with excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, and Power Point). Salesforce.com knowledge a benefit.

  • Willingness to travel up to 40% (including overnight) primarily in U.S. and Canada.
