Job Summary

The Director for Strategy & Business Development will serve as a contributing member within Transfusion Medicine & Cell Therapies division, focusing on the Fresenius Kabi Cell and Gene Therapy (C>) portfolio. The position reports to the Director of Marketing (Cell & Gene Therapies).

The candidate will work closely with R&D, Commercial, and Regulatory to establish, evolve and execute strategic and tactical initiatives for a new product development & launch within C>. This includes establishing contacts at a senior level and cultivating the relationships on a technical basis, as well as managing potential customers within biopharmaceutical, biotech, and academic segments through the new product launch and commercialization of future therapies. The candidate must have the ability to discuss regulatory and reimbursement strategies for the cell & gene therapy business globally and needs to be capable of delivering a strong value proposition message. The candidate will be responsible for developing a detailed go-to-market strategy as well as for executing on the strategy. The candidate will be responsible for structuring, executing & analyzing primary research to support the go-to-market strategy. Lastly, the candidate will need to negotiate contract terms, monitor project teams to ensure contracts are executed as agreed upon during development, and communicate with stakeholders and leadership. This position will indirectly manage and may directly manage in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, establish, and cultivate strong, long-term, and strategic relationships with potential customers to develop a sales funnel.

  • Lead the team responsible for establishing, evolving, and executing the overall business development and sales strategy for the new product launch and commercialization.

  • Develop and maintain CRM, Customer Relationship Management to track business development opportunities.

  • Co-develop and validate product requirement assumptions during development using customer input & feedback; able to represent the voice-of-customer to internal stakeholders. Define any required SOP's.

  • Identity and provide analysis for new business opportunities such as in/out licensing, partnership and development agreements, and mergers and acquisitions.

  • Close deals and contracts in partnership with Legal, Finance, Marketing, and other required functions

  • Provide regular updates to leadership on the customer pipeline, revenue projections, and market trends.

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of Cell and Gene Therapy products and markets.

  • Establish relationships with key decision makers and opinion leaders in the C> industry.

  • Track global competitive developments and industry trends; Be first to see industry news that impacts our business, summarize, and distribute to team members.

  • Mentoring, training, and coaching lower-level employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, graduate degree preferred.

  • 10+ years of experience with cell and gene therapies, biotechnology, medical devices or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 5+ years of experience in business development/commercial; proven experience as a high-performing sales/business development expert

  • Clear understanding of cell & gene therapy manufacturing, marketing, and regulatory processes

  • Ability to multi-task and handle asks with competing priorities effectively.

  • Working knowledge of Excel and Power Point is required.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and sales skills

  • Excellent active listening skills

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • International experience preferred.

  • Willing to travel internationally.

  • Ability to travel up to 40%
