This is a Director, Business Analytics & Insights position with Weil-McLain, which is a division of The Marley-Wylain Company.

Job Summary

The purpose of the Director of Business Analytics and Insight is to support the company's key strategic goals of delivering growth, increasing customer loyalty, optimizing profitability, reducing costs, and maximizing the effectiveness and the efficiency of the business unit. The position is responsible for the company's most cutting-edge data management activities including: hands-on leadership of analytic activities; developing data-driven insight by applying analytical methods; supporting model development and providing strategic thinking across the business units; and the management of complex structured and unstructured data and advanced analytics.


  • Provides the strategic leadership, collaborative coordination, creative problem solving and administrative authority necessary to manage and advance new and existing data opportunities.

  • Manages and mentors analytics team to ensure development of appropriate A&I skill set. Ensures proper resourcing for projects and initiatives

  • Identifies problems and directs the resourcing and activities of the analytics team to perform a wide range of analysis to address issues.

  • Defines and implements the business unit strategy for collecting, accessing and optimizing important data assets.

  • Responsible for the policies and practices that make data available internally and externally as an asset for daily use.

  • Leads in the reform and advancement of data through the acquisition, conversion, processing, quality management, governance and dissemination of data.

  • Develops methodology and models for WM/MEP to determine impact on sales for marketing and sales promotion activities, sales targeting initiatives and customer analysis.

  • Builds predictive and behavioral analyses and models that are used by Product, Marketing, and Sales teams to enhance targeting, increase revenue, optimize spending, and allocate resources more effectively.

  • Continuously identifies new opportunities to leverage analytics to improve our ongoing marketing and product operations, as well as develops new revenue drivers and cost savings.

  • Collaborates with the leadership team to use data and research insights to drive strategic road mapping and critical business decisions

  • Synthesizes information into actionable recommendations and present succinct, well-informed and vetted business cases to senior leadership.

  • Leads development, design, and education of analytical tools available to stakeholders for use in accessing data.

  • Supports pricing strategy and administration.

  • Develops strategies for accessing or generating data (internally or externally) required to analyze potential opportunities and/or market trends.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, analytics or similar field

  • Experience with data mining, statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and data management

  • Department level management

  • Exposure to market research technology and automation

  • Social media intelligence and analytics desired

  • Experience with multi-channel marketing desired

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, to critically evaluate the information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts and deconstruct high-level information into details

  • Ability to create a compelling narrative and drive internal decision making by using qualitative and quantitative data

  • Understands technology (CRM, item data management, BI, lead management etc.) in support of Sales and Marketing

  • Strong Interpersonal skills to establish priorities and resolve conflicts among project stakeholders (such as customers, product management, and engineering)

  • Managerial and department level management

  • Cross functional collaboration
