VIEW JOBS 4/18/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-07-17T00:00 Title: Director of Compensation & Benefits Department: Human Resources Reports To: VP of HR Position Type: Staff Position Summary: Reporting to the Vice President for Human Resources, the Director of Compensation and Benefits will lead our compensation and benefits strategies and programs, provide strategic oversight and expertise, and assist in the development of long-term goals and strategic plans. The incumbent will be part of HR's leadership team and will participate in project management and implementation of various programs and business initiatives that support university initiatives. In this leadership role, the incumbent will impact NJIT's positioning as an employer of choice by ensuring that compensation and benefits are competitive to attract, retain, and reward employees. Essential Functions: a. Provide direction and leadership to design, develop, and implement compensation and benefits programs that align with university's strategy and long-range HR strategic business plans. b. Provide compensation expertise to identify issues, and implementing solutions to engage and reward talent for delivering desired business results. c. Lead compensation survey participation and providing analysis of compensation survey responses, market competitiveness, and guidance on compensation strategies. Determine financial implications and cost/benefit analysis. d. Direct development, planning, and implementation of annual staff salary program, including market analysis and costing to ensure a balance of internal equity and market competitiveness in line with university's compensation philosophy e. Provide consultation to labor relations on compensation strategy and market analysis related to collective bargaining and managing specialized market studies for union classifications. f. Keep abreast of compensation and benefits trends, external benchmark best practices, and regulatory requirements and labor laws, and provide strategy and direction for university-wide programs. g. Monitor the effectiveness of existing compensation policies, guidelines and procedures recommending plan revision as well as new plans that are cost-effective and consistent with compensation trends and university objectives. h. Oversee the administration and management of NJIT's benefits programs, including but not limited to, retirement programs, life insurance, health insurance, dental plans, pension loans, tax deferred annuity plans, flexible spending program, tuition remission, worker's compensation and other related employee benefit programs. i. Ensure program compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment and benefits administration. j. Ensure that the university's human resource information system (Banner) is utilized efficiently and effectively to administer and monitor the benefits offered. Prerequisite Qualifications: a. Master's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Finance, Management, or a related field with at least seven years of program management experience in compensation, benefits or related role. b. Experience in developing and implementing broad-based compensation programs including base and pay for performance, bench-marking/market data, and job evaluation. c. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Ability to translate complex concepts to facilitate decision-making. d. Experience in data analysis, reporting, and presentation of compensation data. e. Demonstrated skill in use of Microsoft Excel; HR systems. Preferred Qualifications: a. Experience in developing and leading compensation and or benefits program within a higher education environment. b.
