The Director, Benefits is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the benefits programs for the firm across different regions and countries. The Director, Benefits oversees the administration of health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, well-being, and other benefits plans, and ensures alignment and compliance with local laws and regulations, as well as global policies and standards. The Director, Benefits also negotiates with vendors and brokers to secure the best coverage and rates for the organization and its employees and manages the benefits budget and forecast. The Director, Benefits also oversees the global mobility program.

This position requires ability to work in the firm's Boston, Washington, DC, Philadelphia, California or New York office on a three-day week hybrid schedule.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead the development and execution of the benefits and well-being strategy aligned with the firm's overall business goals and values and reflecting the diverse needs and preferences of the global workforce.

  • Manage the global benefits and well-being team and oversee the daily operations of the benefits department, including enrollment, claims, billing, audits, reporting, and communication.

  • Analyze the effectiveness, competitiveness, and cost-effectiveness of the benefits programs, and recommend changes and enhancements as needed, based on market trends, best practices, and partner and employee feedback.

  • Evaluate and report on the effectiveness, impact, and return on investment of well-being initiatives.

  • Lead the Manager, Global Mobility and oversee the coordination of immigration, relocations, and remote work initiatives.

  • Collaborate and communicate with internal and external stakeholders, such as senior leaders, partners and employees, brokers, record keepers, actuaries, and insurers.

  • Promote a culture of wellness and well-being and foster engagement, satisfaction, and productivity.

  • Supervise well-being programming and ensure compliance with global and local policies and regulations.

  • Oversee annual retirement plan audits and review necessary reporting, including Form 5500s, Summary Annual Reports, non-discrimination testing, and audits.

  • Oversee management of partner and employee leaves of absence and ensure leaves are administered in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to benefits in different regions and countries, such as ERISA, COBRA, ACA, HIPAA, FMLA, ADA, GDPR, and others.

  • Negotiate and maintain contracts and relationships with global and local benefits vendors, brokers, consultants, insurance carriers, and immigration counsel.

  • Design and deliver benefits education and communication programs for partners and employees, using various methods and channels, and tailored to different cultures and languages.

  • Manage the global benefits and global mobility budget and forecast and provide regular reports and analysis to senior management.

  • Stay abreast of the latest trends and best practices in benefits and well-being, and work with brokers to benchmark the firm's benefits programs against industry standards and peers.

  • Resolve complex benefits issues and inquiries, and provide excellent customer service to partners and employees, across different time zones and locations.

  • Lead and participate in benefits-related projects and initiatives, such as open enrollment, wellness programs, surveys, audits, and integrations.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field.

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in global benefits administration, management, and strategy, preferably in a large organization.

  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or other relevant certification preferred.

  • Broad and deep knowledge and understanding of global benefit, including defined benefit and defined contribution plans, and well-being.

  • Expert knowledge of benefits laws and regulations in different regions and countries, such as ERISA, COBRA, ACA, HIPAA, FMLA, ADA, GDPR, and others.

  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills, and experience working with global and local benefits brokers, consultants, and carriers.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, and ability to use data and metrics to evaluate and improve benefits programs.

  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, and ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and stakeholders, across different cultures.

  • High level of customer service orientation, and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, and experience with HRIS and benefits administration systems, preferably Workday.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively and manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

  • Flexibility to work under tight deadlines, manage multiple tasks, pay attention to detail, and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Problem-solving skills, including the ability to anticipate issues and propose appropriate solutions while considering differing viewpoints.
