The hospital's heart attack treatment times consistently beat the national average, and the hospital offers two cardiac catheterization labs available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Groundbreaking cardiac procedures at Dominican include the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure, which allows for heart valve replacement without opening a patient's chest.

Dominican Hospital has forged significant partnerships with area hospitals to bring exceptional care to Santa Cruz County. The hospital offers a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) through a partnership with Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford. Neurosurgery at Dominican is also offered through a partnership with Stanford Health Care.

Community programs include a Mobile Wellness Clinic, a tattoo removal program, and support groups for patients and new mothers. In addition, and in accordance with our mission, Dominican Hospital supports programs for the underserved in our community, including children and adults, students, seniors, and the homeless population. Responsibilities

The Behavioral Health Curriculum Director ("BH Director") will advise and assist the Residency Program Director in behavioral health and wellness as they relate to resident education. The BH Director will manage the development and implementation of a longitudinal Behavioral Health curriculum for residents. This core faculty position includes teaching supervision administrative and clinical work designed to ensure the curriculum aligns with our goal of being a "program of excellence". ("Programs of Excellence" meet and exceed ACGME program requirements).

As a Morehouse School of Medicine faculty and a member of the More in Common Alliance programs designed to advance health equity there is opportunity to engage in national curriculum development faculty development research and advocacy. The Residency Family Medicine Practice (Resident Continuity Clinic) is in a nearby FQHC Santa Cruz Community Health in which the BH Director will be deeply engaged as well as other community partners supporting the Resident experience. The Director BH for the residency program shall focus on the integration of behavioral health into the family medicine residency educational program as well as supervision of residents in the clinical setting; serves in multiple roles including (1) Core Faculty for the family medicine training program and (2) modeling clinical care. As Core Faculty directly reports to the Program Director

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Licensing requirements in one of the following disciplines: CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST: to be a graduate from an accredited school of psychology and to be licensed as a clinical psychologist in the state of California or the ability to obtain a license prior to employment is required.
  • PSYCHIATRIST: shall have a license as a physician and surgeon in the state of California or the ability to obtain a license prior to employment is required and show evidence of having completed three years graduate training in psychiatry in a program approved by the American Medical Association or the American Osteopathic Association.
  • FAMILY PHYSICIAN: with additional training and qualifications in Behavioral Health (eg Fellowship Trained).
  • NURSE PRACTITIONER: licensed to practice by the Board of Nursing Education and Nurse Registration in California or the ability to obtain a license prior to employment is required and possess a master's degree in psychiatric or public health nursing and two years of Nurse Practitioner clinical and/or teaching experience in a mental health setting.
