The director of Audience Engagement provides strategic level guidance and department wide support to deliver key insights on the various audiences of Church membership. The director will lead the division in analyzing data and research, conducting audience listening to report on needs, and identifying strategies to improve audience engagement. The work of this role helps all membership audiences deepen their conversion to Jesus Christ and His restored gospel, qualify for the blessings of the temple, and prepare themselves, their families, and others for eternal life with their Father in Heaven. This is a people manager position and will be reporting to the Managing Director.

  • Required Master's degree or equivalent.

  • 10 years of related experience in audience segmentation, marketing, communication, or related fields or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Six years of leadership experience and people management experience.

  • Proficient in the application of the Leadership Pattern and People Management Principles.

  • Proficient in planning strategically, handling complex business challenges and providing solutions to those challenges.

  • Advanced ability to manage complex programs and initiatives that often span broad geographic boundaries, cultures, and traditions.

  • Advanced ability to design and improve workflow processes.

  • Proficient skills to access and use relevant data, draw conclusions, counsel with others, and make informed decisions to solve problems.

  • Proficient in the developmental processes and possess skills necessary to assess, observe, train, provide feedback, and support others.

  • Experienced in planning and conducting meaningful conversations.

  • Advanced interpersonal communication skills-including verbal communication, active listening, body language, openness, negotiation, decision making, and conflict resolution and mediation.

  • Proficient in observing and providing others meaningful, clear, standards-based feedback related to teaching performance and development.

  • Expert ability to build constructive working relationships characterized by integrity, acceptance, cooperation, and mutual respect.

  • Proficient in planning and exercising time management on assigned tasks to ensure productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness.

  • Proficient in the Microsoft Suite of tools.

  • Must be able to use standard office equipment.

  • To successfully perform the essential functions of the job there may be physical requirements which need to be met such as sitting for long periods of time and using computer monitors/equipment.

  • Work in partnership with General Officers, division members, and other division directors in identifying audience strategies.

  • Provide a clear contextualized strategy involving the efforts of all executive and service departments.

  • Provides suggestions and recommendations for system needs to create plans focused on long-term strategies and measure progress quarterly.

  • Provide in-depth understanding of and key insights from existing works produced regarding the various audiences of the Church.

  • Provide strategic level guidance and support that will enable the leadership team to successfully create and deliver roadmap priorities.

  • Represent Priesthood and Family on cross-department committees that target and interact with the various audiences of the Church.

  • Act as a consultant to all department teams regarding the learnings accumulated regarding the experiences of membership audiences.

  • Consume and apply existing and future research, including statistical trends, cultural influences, environmental conditions, and other relevant factors to inform recommendations.

  • Present an audience wellness report to the Priesthood and Family Executive Committee.

  • Represent the audiences by providing recommendations that will help Priesthood and Family department achieve its strategy and objective.

  • Oversee division and role specific orientation, onboarding, and ongoing training.

  • Develop and oversee the regular training of division members.

  • Regularly evaluate division members, conduct quarterly results discussions, have monthly conversations, and connect frequently with division members to maintain consistent growth and development.

  • Regularly review and update a personal professional development plan, work towards accomplishing those goals, and render an account to the Managing Director.

  • Manage operations, finances, information, reports, resources, and programs.

  • This position requires travel. Directs the work of other employees (may include mixed workforce) or managers.

  • Responsible, in partnership with HR, to hire or fire employees and recommends advancement, promotion or any other change of status of employees within their division.
