This newly created position within the Office of Athletic Compliance will be responsible for leading Syracuse University's NCAA rules education efforts. In this role, the Director of Compliance will have autonomy to develop, create, and deliver engaging and dynamic rules education programming. The Director of Compliance will also work with the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance to develop, draft, and propose ACC and NCAA legislation. Additionally, the Director of Compliance will serve as the primary sport contact for several of the institution's athletics programs to provide rules interpretations and assist in other areas.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Review, interpret and monitor university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations

  • Communicate, advise and instruct coaches, staff, student athletes and representatives of athletic interests.

  • Certify eligibility records

  • Coordination of day-to-day compliance activities

  • Serve as liaison with multiple offices on campus; athletics, registrar, financial aid, housing, admissions;

  • Provide legislative and interpretive guidelines for institution

  • Oversight of specific compliance components as noted

VIEW JOBS 12/31/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-31T00:00 Reporting to the CCO of the Separate Accounts and Lead Director of the Law Department, this individual this will be responsible for providing support to 38a-1 and Insurance Company Compliance programs via the following: * Management and coordination of Business Area examinations * Provide oversight and guidance to examination staff in the completions of examinations defined in annual examination schedules. Guidance includes laws, regulations and company policies and procedures. * Develop comprehensive testing plans in collaboration with Lead Director * Drafting and communicating reports with recommendations and enhancements to senior business management * Provide training to team members via review of test plans/templates, laws and regulations applicable to review, policies and procedures prior to initiating examination * Conduct bi-weekly staff meetings to review and track examination progress. * Ensure review and follow up on all outstanding corrective action items referenced in examinations via Examination Database * Provide advice as needed to the units within the Company's 38a-1 business areas to assure consistency and quality. * Assist Lead Director on significant legal and regulatory matters arising out of Service Center operations. * Assist Lead Director in the review and update of 38a-1 Compliance Manual, 38a-1 and AXA Entity wide risk assessments QUALIFICATIONS: * A bachelor's degree or substantial work experience (5+ years) is preferred. * Candidate should have strong knowledge of variable products and securities/state insurance regulations that apply. * Must have strong Excel, Microsoft Office and Access knowledge * Strong written/verbal communication skills and investigative/analytical/problem resolution skills required. * Strong Project Management Skills * Works effectively with management, regulators * Possess strong analytical, administrative and communication skills and can meet internal and external deadlines.
