Job Summary/Basic Function
The Director of Annual Giving, Stewardship, and Donor Relations is responsible for the development, implementation, and assessment of a comprehensive strategic plan focused on donor acquisition, donor retention, and growing our culture of philanthropy. This position reports to the Executive Director of Development and manages a Donors Relations Coordinator.
Responsibilities Include:
Managing, marketing, and executing all mass solicitations, including direct mail, email, digital efforts, and special efforts such as True Blue Give (giving days) and Senior Gift (student philanthropy)
Developing effective solicitation strategies for all segments of our community including alumni, faculty and staff, retirees, students, and friends of the university
Tracking and increasing donor acquisition rates, donor retention rates, and recurring donors
Managing a comprehensive donor stewardship program that fosters meaningful connections with donors at all levels, including the oversight, growth, and enhancement of all donor recognition societies and events
Working with the Strategic Communications Specialist to ensure prompt and effective communication to all donors
Working with Advancement Services to ensure effective ways of updating constituent contact information and maintaining data integrity
Developing and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders throughout the university, including Deans, faculty, and development officers
Referring leads to other development staff as appropriate
Staying abreast of current trends in higher education and fundraising
Occasional nights and weekends required
Required Education
Bachelors degree required
Required Related Experience
Five years of professional experience
Desirable Related Experience
Experience in marketing, sales, higher education, or project / event management
Strong analytical and data management skills
Passion for the university's mission and a commitment to philanthropy
Basic understanding of annual giving, mass solicitations, the donor cycle, and moves management
