Apex Systems is currently in search for a Director, Advanced Robotics & Automation Engineer for one of our clients in the Cosmetic Industry. This will be a permanent/direct hire opportunity and the location can be in Bristol, PA (near Philadelphia) or Melville, NY (near Long Island New York). The incumbent will lead the development and implementation of the global advanced robotics and automation strategy across manufacturing and distribution operations. Engage stakeholders across the network (R&D, Pkg, Finance, GSR IP, E2EE Pillars, Plants and DCs) to design, develop and implement world class automated solutions for current and future state automation requirements. Conduct, develop and maintain a global robotics and automation gap assessment and develop and deploy a capability realization road-map which delivers EHS, sustainability, quality, cost, speed, and utilization .

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for identification of relevant robotic & automation technologies for ELC and transfer of knowledge into the organization.

  • Collaborate with functions across the organization to identify & validate potential for automation.

  • Monitor & consider technological trends by collaborating with external research institutes & third parties.

  • Support definition and design of robotic & automation requirements for new and existing processes & products.

  • Act as subject matter expert for all pillars and ensure knowledge sharing across the organization.

  • Support implementation of new systems (e.g. supervise technicians & engineers, refine requirements based on local circumstances in the plant).

  • Conduct an automation 'Needs-Analysis' for all products, processes and global PBU's for the BT&S business to define automation opportunities and needs, both short and long-term.

  • Work with each area business leaders to develop an automation implementation strategy by technology, defining timing to execute, required capabilities, and providing necessary support for the successful launch of new automation.

  • Identify and manage partnership with vendors (e.g. equipment manufacturers, software developers), and negotiate contracts in conjunction with other internal stakeholders.

  • Define the optimum automation design, creation and implementation approach using internal and external supplier resources. This will include feasibility, design, development, installation, service and spare parts strategies.

  • Establish the automation equipment standards for use in design and sourcing.

  • Support program / project leaders to ensure projects are executed on time, meeting planned CapEx spending and business case achieved post-launch.

  • Ensure supplier / automation technology complies with the digital transformation requirements / guideline.

  • Work alongside Procurement to develop the Automation Category Strategy detailing the suppliers we will partner with by technology and ensuring we procure automation at best cost / capability.

?Qualifications:

  • Hands on experience in manufacturing and distribution automation projects

  • KPIs Degree of automation, Automation-based savings, ROI, Robot utilization rate, Installed robotics base

  • Preferred Degree: Mechanical/Mechatronics

  • 40% travel time

  • Professional Engineer OR Professional Project Manager certifications preferred

  • Minimum 8 years experience
