About Midlands Regional Center

Midlands Regional Center is a residential facility of the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs located in Columbia, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Job Responsibilities

Assists the Direct Support Manager in assigned residences. This position assists them with their duties and responsibilities, to ensure regulatory compliance related to ICF/ID regulations.

These duties and responsibilities include supervisory, staffing, and monitorship; exercises a high degree of discretion and sound judgement. Must be able to work independently with limited supervision.

Responsible for the supervisory functions of the Direct Support Professional I's and II's.

Ensures that all documentation required for the consumers Individual Support Plan have been completed, and monitors the safety and care of consumers.

Ensures Active Treatment for consumers in assigned buildings is implemented by staff. This entails monitorship programs developed by the ID Team.

Monitors completion of behavior data sheets, ISP training programs, and GER (General Event Reports) to ensure all required documentation is entered into THERAP. Monitors Day Programs monthly (i.e. on/off campus).

Responsible for reporting significant events and suspected abuse immediately per SCDDSN policy and procedures.

Performs additional duties as assigned.

  • Shift Differential Rates: Monday
  • Friday 2nd and 3rd shift = $0.50/hour, Saturday

  • Sunday all shifts = $0.50/hour

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor's degree and one year of experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations. Ability to perform basic administrative tasks.

General knowledge of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Knowledge of basic safety practices. Ability to accurately communicate.

Ability to utilize a computer. Ability to bend, stoop, lift, push, pull, reach, and walk. Ability to work in a group home, home-like setting or ICF.

Physical ability to work with individuals who may be physically aggressive or medically fragile. Ability to supervise subordinates.

Immunization: If this position requires the applicant to work directly with DDSN consumers, a (2) step PPD testing or QuantiFERON TB Gold testing must be completed prior to beginning employment. All new employees who are healthcare providers are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, Varicella and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.

State Disaster Plan: In accordance with the State's Disaster Plan, which includes hazardous weather, DDSN employees may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.
