  • Availability to work a variety of shifts and every other weekend*

The Direct Support Professional role is to support clients with their life to include health and personal cares, therapeutic, educational, recreational, and leisure activities for individuals with special needs to achieve maximum growth and learning as they make transitions throughout life. Overall contributing to the Individual Service Plan (ISP), positive behavior support (PBS) plan, and individual specific plans.

QUALIFICATIONS (minimum requirements)

Education and/or years' experience required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred/Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Prefer minimum one-year experience in the area of Developmental Disabilities

  • Ability to learn and comprehend terminology related to the position. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing; able to follow verbal and written instructions, and problem solve effectively with individuals, staff, and family members.

  • Ability to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills, having integrity, being tactful, courteous, and sensitive with internal and external contacts. Must be able to adapt to rapid change, and must be able to intervene promptly in crisis/emergency situations.

  • Equipment used: Understand and have a basic working knowledge of a computer or be willing to learn, as well as communication devices and other assistive technology.

Facility: Bismarck Medical Center Location: Bismarck, ND Job Schedule: Full time Weekly Hours: 40.00 Job Summary The scope of work for a Respiratory Therapist includes assessment, therapeutic intervention and education for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders or associated complications. Respiratory therapists assess individuals to prevent, detect, monitor and manage disease and complications. Respiratory therapists provide therapeutic interventions to directly impact cardiopulmonary health as well as overall health status according to established goals and interdisciplinary care plans. Respiratory therapists provide education to promote preventative care, self-management, enhanced cardiopulmonary health and quality of life. Performs regular assessments of patients and the equipment they are using in order to adjust therapy. Collect and/or analyzes patients' blood and other specimens to determine levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide and other gases. Measures the patient's lung capacity to determine if there are any impairments. Offers diagnosis results and treatment suggestions based on the analysis of the patient. The RT Sponsorship is financial assistance to support tuition and other expenses while you progress through your schools RT program. Upon graduation, Sanford and the sponsored student will partner for a full time employment commitment at Sanford Health as an RT in Bismarck for two or three years. Current students are eligible to apply. This sponsorship can be used in conjunction with other financial aid. * Must be enrolled into an RT program * Commit to working 2 or 3 years full time as an RT after graduation * Must maintain a GPA that meets program requirements and show forward progression through the program of study * Must sign a contract before payments are processed * Must commit to participating in Sanford Check-Ins (email, phone, or in person) during program of study Application is open May 4th - September 28th.. Respiratory Therapists must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of all procedures, indications, contraindications and hazards involved in respiratory care, as well as knowledge of equipment utilized in their department. Demonstrates the ability and knowledge required to utilize computers for patient documentation and data gathering for quality care. Must complete orientations, competency validations, and other in-servicing as required by the department and hospital. Must have current Respiratory Therapy licensure in state(s) of practice and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges as required by position. Must have Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials as attained through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and maintain active status according to NBRC credentialing requirements within six months of hire into position.
